Language shouldn't be a barrier to understanding a cancer diagnosis.
This Hispanic Heritage Month, Let's Win board member and primary care physician Dr. Dean Xerras shares why Spanish-language resources are essential for patients and families facing pancreatic cancer. After 25 years practicing in a predominantly Spanish-speaking community outside Boston, Dr. Xerras has seen firsthand how much it matters for patients to understand their diagnosis, know their options, and feel equipped to advocate for themselves, all in the language they're most comfortable in.
We're proud to provide resources in Spanish so every patient and family can make informed decisions together with their care team, regardless of what language they speak. by @letswinpc

This month, we're spotlighting the members of our Patient Advisory Board, the patients and survivors whose experience shapes how we support our community.

Meet Martin D. Hynes III, Ph.D., a 5-year pancreatic cancer survivor. Marty spent his career developing new drugs, including one for pancreatic cancer. Today, he uses that expertise to help fellow patients understand their treatments, from how well they work to their side effects and the regulatory process behind them.

His key advice for patients: don't lose hope. New therapies are in the pipeline, and seeking care at a high-volume cancer center can give you better access to them.

Thank you, Marty, for turning your experience into support for others.

Swipe through to hear more from Marty, and stay tuned for more from our PAB.
