Some people leave your life, but never quite leave your memory. 🌙

You remember things they probably forgot.

The way they laughed at their own jokes. The songs they loved. The stories they told you twice. The little things they said without realising you'd carry those words for years.

You remember when their messages changed, when conversations grew shorter, when something between you began to fade before either of you had the courage to name it.

And the strangest part?

You can accept that things have changed. You can stop reaching out. You can convince yourself that the past belongs where it is.

Yet one ordinary moment, one familiar song, one passing mention of their name can bring it all back.

Not because you want them back. Not necessarily because you're still hurting.

Sometimes, you simply remember what it felt like to know someone that well.

Perhaps they have forgotten the details. Perhaps they remember more than they let on, too.

You'll probably never know.

But some memories don't ask for a place in your present. They quietly live in the corners of your past, untouched by time.

**Some people become strangers without ever becoming strangers in your heart.**

One day, you know everything about each other. You know their favourite song, the stories behind their scars, the things that make them laugh when nobody else understands.

Then life happens.

The messages become less frequent. The conversations grow shorter. And eventually, you don't know whether reaching out would bring you closer or remind you how far apart you've become.

It happens between friends.
Between siblings.
Between parents and children.
Between people who once promised they would always be there.

Not every relationship ends with anger. Sometimes, nobody is the villain. Sometimes, two people simply lose their way to each other.

And that's what makes it difficult to grieve. There's no final goodbye to remember, no clear moment when everything ended.

Just a door neither of you closed, and neither of you knows how to walk through anymore.

Maybe you've made peace with the distance. Maybe you wouldn't even want things to go back to the way they were.

But somewhere, a memory still makes you
wonder how someone who once knew you so well became someone you no longer know how to reach.

He's 42 now. But a part of him is still waiting for his father to say five words.

He's built a life.
He's survived disappointments.
He's become the man he once needed someone to believe he could be.

People call him strong. They come to him for advice. They trust him to hold everything together.

But nobody sees the little boy who still wonders why his best was never enough to earn those words.

Perhaps his father loved him in ways he never learned to express. Perhaps he thought providing was enough, that silence was strength, that a son didn't need to hear what a father already felt.

But sons grow older. They don't necessarily outgrow the need to feel seen.

And sometimes, the man who can face the entire world without flinching still struggles to look his father in the eyes without hoping for something he's waited decades to hear.

He doesn't need another achievement to his name.

He doesn't need another reason to prove himself.

He just wants his father to look at him, see the man he's become, and say:

*“I'm proud of you, son.”*

Because some boys grow into men without ever outgrowing the ache of being one.

And some of them are still waiting at 42. 🖤

Sometimes, I don't miss the life I have. I miss the life I might have had.

The person I might have become.
The place I might have called home.
The love that might have stayed.
The dream I might have followed if I hadn't been so afraid.

We spend so much of our lives learning to accept the choices we've made that we rarely admit how much we grieve the choices we never got to make.

And perhaps that's what growing older really means: learning to live with the life in front of us while occasionally wondering about the one waiting somewhere in our imagination.

Would that version of me be happier?

Would they have found the things I've spent years searching for?

Or would they, too, lie awake some nights wondering about a different life?

I'll never know.

But sometimes, in the quiet between who I am and who I could have been, I find myself mourning a life that never happened.

Maybe the hardest goodbyes are the ones we never knew we were saying to the people we might have become.🌙

Sometimes, the easiest person to blame is the one who finally reacts.
They push you until you break,
rewrite what happened until you question yourself,
then hold your reaction up as evidence that you were always the problem.
But there comes a moment when explaining yourself becomes another form of surrender.
So you stop defending the version of you they created.
You draw the line.
Not because you became cruel.
Not because you stopped caring.
Because you finally understood:
being blamed does not make you guilty.
And being misunderstood does not make their story true.
You may tell your story about me.

The hardest kind of loneliness is sharing a home with someone who no longer feels like home.

You still hear their footsteps.
Still sit across from them at the same table.
Still sleep beneath the same roof.

But somewhere between the silence and the distance, you realize you are mourning someone who never actually left.

Everyone thought I was fine.

I smiled. I showed up.
I said “I’m fine” until even I forgot it was a lie.

They called me strong.
They said I was doing well.

And I smiled, because what else could I do?

The saddest part wasn't hiding my pain.

It was becoming so good at hiding it

They kept calling her a monster,
never asking who taught her to breathe fire.

Some dragons are not born cruel.
They are created in the aftermath of being cornered, silenced, humiliated, and pushed too far.

And when the cage finally breaks,
they don't apologise for having teeth.

Sometimes becoming the monster they feared
is simply what survival looks like. 🐉

There are missed calls you forget by morning.

And then there is the one you spend the rest of your life wishing you had answered.

He wasn't calling to talk about his day.
He wasn't calling because he was bored.

He was lying in a hospital bed, terrified, knowing he might not have much time left.

And in that final moment, he called the one person he trusted not to let him face death alone.

Me.

I didn't answer.

Some guilt doesn't fade with time.

It simply learns how to live inside you. 🖤

Some goodbyes don't arrive with tears, a final conversation, or a door closing.

Sometimes, someone simply becomes a little less present each day until you realize you can't remember when they stopped being part of your life.

And that is the cruelest kind of ending.
