Working further about my little project to hang a calligraphy piece above my desk. In the first picture you see a white version, the second version is written in Finetec gold. You can read poems about Paris in a spiral. Which one is your favorite? #ParisCalligraphy #CalligraphyInParis #ParisianInk #ParisArt #ElegantParis #ParisianCalligraphy #ParisVibes #CalligraphyLovers #ParisianLetters #FrenchCalligraphy #CalligraphyOfTheDay #ParisianStyle #InkAndParis #CalligraphyArt #ParisianScrip #FrenchScript #LetteringInParis #ArtOfCalligraphy #ParisianDesign #BeautifulParis #CalligraphyAddict #ParisByDesign #CalligraphyLife #ParisianInkArt #ElegantWriting #ParisianArtistry #ModernCalligraphyParis #ParisWriting #ParisianCreativity #HandwrittenInParis by @lettersfrom_amsterdam

I often find myself drawn to the same materials. Black paper, Finetec gold and gilding.
Not simply because of how they look together, but because of what they bring to the process.
The darkness of the paper creates a sense of stillness. The gold brings light, but only reveals its full beauty when it catches the light in just the right way. And gilding adds a depth that is difficult to capture in a photograph.
There is something about working with these materials that makes me slow down and pay closer attention.
Perhaps that is what I love most about calligraphy. The way it invites you to notice the smallest details, and to find beauty in things that ask for time and patience. #CopperplateCalligraphy #CalligraphyArt #ModernCalligraphy #GoldCalligraphy #CalligraphyCommunity by @lettersfrom_amsterdam

A little project that took a different turn than I had planned.
I started these cards a few months ago with the idea of turning them into a small round booklet, but I had punched the holes a little too low.
Instead of putting the project aside, I decided to turn the cards into a little inspiration board and attached them with a brad.
I love when a project finds a new direction along the way. It was not what I originally had in mind, but I am really happy with how it turned out.
For the white details, I used white calligraphy ink from Ferris Wheel Press.

Trying something a little different with the Ferris Wheel Press Masque in Teal
This is actually my first time using an Extra Fine nib, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Since the line is so fine and precise, I thought it would be fun to use it for some architectural script — and that turned out to be the perfect way to get to know this nib.
It definitely feels different from the broader nibs I usually write with, and I had to adjust my writing a little, but I really enjoyed how much control and detail it gives. For small lettering, neat notes and more precise writing, I can really see why people love an EF nib.
The pen itself feels nicely substantial in the hand, and I really like the glossy teal resin together with the gold details. It feels elegant without being too much.
And I have to mention the three little 10ml ink bottles because they are honestly so cute. I love the size — they’re perfect for trying different colours, easy to store, and just very satisfying as part of the set.
Would an Extra Fine nib be my first choice for everyday writing? Probably not, because I still love a broader, juicier line. But for this kind of detailed writing, I really enjoyed using it and I’m glad I tried something outside my usual comfort zone @ferriswheelpress #ferriswheelpress #architectscript #architectenschrift #penreview #writing by @lettersfrom_amsterdam

A little piece of Paris inspiration
During a holiday in Paris, I came across a beautiful hand-drawn card that instantly caught my eye. I loved the idea and decided to recreate it in my own way — using Copperplate calligraphy.
To finish the design, I made the little bows with a glue gun, adding a playful three-dimensional touch.
I love how a little moment of inspiration while travelling can find its way into a new creation back home. The ink I used is Starlit Banquet a new ink from @ferriswheelpress With the code JA-LA (link in bio) you receive 15 % discount in your FWP order.

One last look at the upcoming Harry Potter collection from Ferris Wheel Press.
I haven’t tried the inks yet, but a few pieces from the collection have already made it onto my pre-order list.
For now, I’m simply enjoying the colours, details and atmosphere of the collection — and imagining what I might create with them once they arrive @ferriswheelpress #ferriswheelpress #harrypotter #fountainpenink #fountainpen #warnerbrosdiscoveryxferriswheelpress by @lettersfrom_amsterdam

Ferris Wheel Press has released the pictures of a new Harry Potter collection, and although I haven’t had the inks in my hands, the artwork and atmosphere were too lovely not to share.
The colours, packaging and tiny details feel made for anyone who loves beautiful stationery and lettering.

Sometimes a new material is enough to shift the direction of a piece.
I used some of the new Finetec colours and paired them with stones I found in a flower arrangement. The tones worked together so naturally that I wanted to create around them.
The metallic finish is difficult to capture in photographs, but in real life it adds so much depth.
Drawing still challenges me, but combinations like this make me want to experiment more.#calligraphy #moderncalligraphy #calligraphyart #handlettering #calligraphylove by @lettersfrom_amsterdam

Today, the final instructions for writing a spiral.
I started in the middle, as this makes it easier to let the text end nicely and naturally.
I recommend using a fast-drying ink or paint, so you don’t have to keep stopping to avoid smudging. It also helps to place something underneath your hand, so the natural oils from your skin don’t affect the flow of the ink.
Because Copperplate is written at a 60-degree angle, I divided the circle into several sections. In each section, I placed a ruler together with a 60-degree guideline, so I had consistent Copperplate guidelines all the way around the circle.
It takes quite a bit of preparation, but the result is beautifully clean and precise. #calligraphyspiral #copperplatecalligraphy #calligraphypractice #copperplatescript #calligrafriends by @lettersfrom_amsterdam

I created a spiral on a square piece of paper.
First, I drew two diagonal lines from corner to corner. The point where the two diagonals cross marks the center of the paper. This is also the starting point for the compass.
Next, I drew a horizontal line through the center. This line helps to position the compass, because the spiral is made by drawing one semicircle at a time.
For the first semicircle, the compass point is placed in the center of the paper. After each semicircle is drawn, the compass is opened approximately 0.5 cm wider.
For the next semicircle, the compass point is moved to a new position along the horizontal line. For example, for the second semicircle, the compass point is placed halfway between the original center point and the edge of the first semicircle.
This process is repeated, alternating from one side to the other, while gradually increasing the compass width. In this way, the separate semicircles connect and form one continuous spiral.
See the photos for a visual explanation.
