This took a long time to write, mainly because I kept hesitating thinking my story didn’t matter. I realize it does, even if it helps one person. This is my story and the experience of the bystander effect. Tap the link in my bio to read the full thing. Most of all, love for everyone who has helped keep me here. #story#writing#nyc taken in New York, New York by @lettersfromdev

When I first came to New York, I lived in Manhattan and decided to write and photograph the feeling of “solitary”. The city was shut down, New York was not the New York I once experienced. I moved thousands of miles away from my home in LA to come to the city of dreams. Yet I was and everyone else was directed to be confined and alone. NY was quiet and that was the first time I could ever say that. No one was on the A/C train I would take to work. Port authority was empty. It felt lonely, so I used film and writing to comfort me in a time of discomfort. NEW YORK IN SOLITARY 2020.

You came to visit me in Spain and now I get to live for a short while with you in Paris! Sharing a flat with you has been the most lovely thing. Saying good morning and goodnight to each other, sharing croissants and cigarettes, watching succession together every night… it’s all been a dream. To think just a bit of a year ago we met in New York and now I get to call you a close friend. Love you forever D🤍 @denashh by @lettersfromdev

Parc Monaceau, one of my favorite parks in Paris. The park where Monet made multiple landscape paintings. 🤍 #paris taken in Paris, France by @lettersfromdev
