My soul dog in heaven. ❤️
Letters, memories, grief & the love that stays.
For the ones we still talk to.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Two weeks ago tonight, at 7:18pm, I lost Roxy.

Today I found this, as I went to clear my phone.

Nothing dramatic.

Nothing staged.

Just me telling my girl that I love her.

That I’ll love her forever.

That she’s a good girl.

And her looking straight back at me.

At the time, it was just another ordinary moment.

Now I’d give anything to be back inside it.

That’s something grief keeps teaching me.

You never know which ordinary moment will become one of the most valuable things you own.

The boring videos.
The random photos.
Their breathing in the background.
The way they looked at you when you spoke to them.

Keep them.

Because one day, those tiny pieces of everyday life might mean everything.

I meant it then, Rox.

I mean it even more now.

I love you.
I’ll love you forever.
You’ll always be my good girl. ❤️

If you could say one thing to yours for ten more seconds, what would it be?

Follow if your dog was never “just a dog.”

Some moments don’t need many words.

I just hope wherever you are, you’re warm, safe, peaceful… and somehow still close enough to feel me thinking about you.

Some days I miss the noise of you.
Some days I miss the routine.
Some days I just miss knowing you were there.

Tonight, I just hope you’re somewhere beautiful.

Miss you, Rox. ❤️🐾

If you’re missing someone tonight, I hope they feel close too.

One week.

7:18pm
21/09/2026

That’s the time everything changed.

A week without your feet on the floor.
Without your breathing.
Without your face waiting for me.
Without our walks.
Without you filling every quiet space in the house.

I still don’t know how to say goodbye to you.

So I’m not going to.

I’ll keep talking to you.
Writing to you.
Walking with you in every place we went together.

You were my soul dog, Rox.

My constant.
My comfort.
My baby girl.
My beautiful big bear.

And I’d take every bit of this pain again if it meant I got to have you.

Thank you for choosing me.

Dad’s got you. Mom loves. And you are missed dearly.

Always. ❤️🐾

I used to joke that Roxy gave me absolutely no peace.

Couldn’t eat without being watched.

Couldn’t get comfortable without her stealing half the bed.

Couldn’t move around the house without my little shadow following.

And now the house is quiet.

There’s more room on the sofa.

Nobody is watching my dinner.

Nobody is under my feet.

Turns out, I never wanted more space.

I just wanted more time with her. ❤️

If they’re still beside you tonight, give them that extra cuddle.

And if they’re gone, I hope one of their ridiculous little habits makes you smile today. 🐾

There are the obvious parts of losing Roxy.

Missing her.
Missing the walks.
Missing seeing her face.

But some parts of grief only show up later.

The habits your body still remembers.

The places you still look.

The fear of forgetting her smell or the sound of her breathing.

And then, slowly, the moments where a memory makes you smile before it hurts.

I think that’s the part I’m starting to understand now.

Grief changes shape.
Love doesn’t. ❤️

I’ve been thinking about this a lot.

Sometimes something Roxy did comes back to me and I laugh.

Then, almost immediately, I feel the sadness underneath it.

At first that felt wrong.

Like smiling somehow meant I wasn’t missing her enough.

But I’m beginning to understand something.

The memories aren’t supposed to hurt forever.

Maybe one day the love gets to speak before the grief does.

Maybe remembering them with a smile isn’t moving on from them.

Maybe it’s carrying them forward. ❤️

If you’ve lost yours — what’s one memory that can still make you smile?

Yesterday I told you how Roxy died.

Today feels more important.

This was Roxy.

The food inspector.
The bed hog.
The tennis-ball obsessive.
The professional walk demander.
The face that could apparently hold entire conversations without saying a word.

The girl who made ordinary days better simply by being in them.

Because I never want this page to become somewhere you only know how much losing her hurt.

I want you to know why losing her hurt this much.

Tell me one thing your dog was famous for. ❤️🐾

I’ve talked a lot about missing Roxy. But I’ve never properly explained what happened.

In Jan 2026, Roxy was diagnosed with aggressive cancer. A tumour on her spleen meant surgery to remove both. We were told she might have 2–4 months. Six if we were lucky.

My baby girl gave us nine. ❤️

We chose not to put her through chemo. We wanted her remaining time to be spent living her life.

And she did. From January to September, Roxy showed ZERO signs of deterioration. Even the vets were impressed.

She walked. Played. Ate. Loved. Was ridiculous. She was still Roxy.

Four days before she died, she was beside us when Holly and spent the day. Happy, herself, surrounded by love. We had no idea how precious that moment would become.

Then, on Sunday, everything changed.

She was bloated and in pain. We rushed her to the animal hospital. By Monday, the vets found a bleeding mass on her liver. Suddenly, there was no more time.

I’ll never forget walking out of the vets, holding her and crying, while a stranger stopped to hold me and cry with me and my pain as my world shattered.

We brought her home, to everything and everyone she loved. On Monday 21st September 2026, at 7:18pm, Roxy took her final breath. Her belly was full of steak and ice cream. She was surrounded by love.

I rescued Roxy on 25th October 2017. But she rescued me too.

That night, it felt like two souls died. Only one stopped breathing.

But I refuse to let the worst 24 hours of her life become the story of her entire life.

She was nearly nine years of walks, laughter, muddy paws, silly moments and unconditional love. And in my darkest moments, she had me and I had her. She saved me.

That’s why this page exists. Not just to remember losing her, but to remember all of her. ❤️

If you’ve lost a dog who seemed fine just days before, you’ll understand why I’m still trying to make sense of it.

I keep noticing things my body still does automatically.

Leaving space beside me.

Looking down before I move my feet.

Expecting her when I open food.

Glancing towards where she used to lie.

For a split second, none of it feels strange.

Then I remember why she isn’t there.

Maybe that’s another part of grief — your life changes instantly, but your habits take longer to understand.

What do you still catch yourself doing for yours? ❤️

My phone is full of Roxy.

Photos I took without thinking.
Videos of absolutely nothing.
Her sleeping.
Walking.
Staring at my food.
Being weird.

At the time they were just little things I wanted to keep.

Now they’re little pieces of a life I can’t make any more of.

And that’s such a strange thing to realise.

Your camera roll doesn’t change.
What the memories mean does.

What’s the one photo or video of yours you keep going back to? ❤️

I miss Roxy more than I know how to explain.

But I’ve realised there’s something else I’m grieving too.

The version of me who knew she was downstairs.

Who had someone waiting when I came home.

Who had a reason to get outside even when my head told me not to.

Who could have an awful day and still look at that ridiculous face.

Sometimes you don’t only grieve who you lost.
You grieve the life that existed around them.

I never expected that part.

What part of yourself changed when you lost yours? ❤️

Some people hear “dog” and think pet.

Food bowl.
Walks.
Vet bills.
A bed in the corner.

Some of us hear “dog” and think:

Home.
Routine.
Safety.
Company.
A reason to get out of bed.
A reason to come home.

That was Roxy for me.

So yes, I’m still grieving her.

And I probably will in some form for a long time.

Because grief doesn’t measure how socially acceptable the loss was.

It measures how much they meant to you.

If your dog was your safe place too, you’ll understand this without me having to explain it.

Comment their name below. ❤️🐾
Save this for the days somebody makes you feel like you should be “over it.”
Follow if your dog was never “just a dog.”
