I am positive that this Cheviot yarn could take a few layers of flesh off you if you wanted to make an exfoliating scrubber out of it.

I have never experienced wool this abrasive before. It looks soft, has soft colors, but will scratch you bloody if you aren’t careful.

Maybe that is its destiny! I honestly can’t imagine what else to make from it.

I did not enjoy spinning this wool, and am glad it’s over with. So are my poor fingers. If I was to become a criminal, now would be the time. As I have no finger prints anymore. If anyone needs something burgled, let me know. 🥷

Taking it all outside to get some light before I’m sitting in the dark again tonight.

Power company turned off our electricity, so people have been running their generators, which are now starting fires on the mountain. Genius! 😕

Well, this was a fun project! I started knitting the beret last night, and I just finished it! I love it!

It’s so fun, and colorful. Not to mention perfect for the season. I rarely wear the hats I knit, but this one is particularly special. I do believe I have found my style of knitted hat.

I think beanies make me look like a penis head. This might too, but I don’t seem to care yet. 😂🍆

I blended the different shades of merino wool on my Ashford blending board, made rolags, spun them up, then made the coolest beret in the world. 😄🧶🐑🌈

99% merino, 1% attitude

Because of its naughty disposition, I have it modeled in front of my erotic book collection.

I had to rewind this beast four times before it would behave properly.

I may have to knit something out of it like a banana hammock, just to show it who’s boss.

Holy Shiitake mushrooms! Thank you so much @bighillgirl for my wonderful gifts!

I swear I have been looking everywhere for this amazing book since I watched the documentary about Miriam Rice and her amazing illustrator DorothyBeebee. I am so happy! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

I generally only appreciate pink on flowers, sunsets, and on other peoples clothes.

I have to admit that dyeing, and spinning this roving was a whole lot of fun.

It reminds me of my childhood for some reason. Strawberry Shortcake in particular. I didn’t really like the cartoon, but I did enjoy the image. Not sure why. I remember having a scratch and sniff sticker that smelled of synthetic strawberries. I probably had a pajama set as well.

I may knit up a cowl with is skein. 💗

@lovecreekpermaculture was kind enough to identify my mystery mushroom from the other day.

I looked up Pisolithus arthizus and was literally laughing out loud at the different names it had.

The one that really had me roaring was Dog Poop fungus. Especially considering my current method of collecting containers. 😂

I used two poop bags to gather the Dog poop fungus this morning! 😂🐕💩🍄‍🟫

Other amusing names it is known by are
Deadman’s Foot
Dyeball
Pardebal
Bohemian Truffle

It is described as an earthball fungus. A very apt name.

The dye is generally a golden yellow, bright auburn, deep rich brown, and blacks.

I have been keeping the dye mushrooms I’ve gathered as of late in an old herb drying rack on the deck. I’ll be looking into a mushroom dehydration system soon.

I was chuckling to myself walking home with two heavy looking poop bags. Luckily I didn’t see anyone on the road today. Because they probably would have told me to stop over feeding Homer. 😂😂🐕💩🍄‍🟫
