A bit of a different weekend at the Whaka this year, ticking off the 100km alongside Dad. Still a mega day out on some of the best singletrack in the world, and a great few days catching up with some awesome people!

Another massive highlight of the weekend was receiving the Paul Gunn Scholarship. Extremely grateful to have been chosen and to have the privilege of carrying on Paul’s legacy.

A huge thank you to the Gunn family and the @whaka100_official team for making it all possible!

Back to racing tomorrow for round one of the @spring_cup_xco! Excited to give the legs a good shake out and blow out the cobwebs after some time off.

Congratulations to @kayleymcmillan08 and @levi_gear, our deserving winners of the 2026 Paul Gunn Scholarship.

Paul always backed the riders around him and made sure the next generation had someone in their corner. The scholarship keeps that going.

This year, both winners embody the award's spirit.

Kayley already holds an impressive domestic and international CV. At home, she’s a regular at Te Miro MTB Club events, helping with the kids’ races and track prep. She runs free skills sessions for younger riders and co-hosted a free skills day open to riders of all ages and abilities. Next season she’s chasing her first World Cup starts.

Levi is the U17 NZ and Oceania XCO champion and won the Whaka 50 overall in 2024. He’s a qualified instructor who mentors young riders on line choice and race craft. When his own race at Schools Nationals ended in a DNF, he turned his attention straight to the group he was supporting and that speaks volumes.

Both will put their scholarship to work with $1,000 cash each and access to the entire Nduro Events calendar.

Thank you to every rider who applied, and to the Gunn family for keeping Paul’s spirit on the trails. by @levi_gear

SUPERCITY R2 | TTT + RR

Back from over a year of road racing hiatus with a solid day alongside the @proformance_racing lads! The team took out the TTT with @joshtrowe hauling on the TT bike.

In the road race, I attacked on lap one and spent around 60km solo before being caught by two riders, including teammate @wilson_hannon_ . We dropped the other rider and went 1-2, capping off nearly 90km off the front for me.

Cheers to the boys for a good days racing, to everyone who helps put these events together and @ethan.vnr.photo for the 📸🔥🤙

Super cool to be back at Auckland Schools racing for a fast, fun day of racing at Sanders!

It was awesome to see so many fast young riders coming through in Auckland. There’s some talent coming through the grassroots scene here, so watch out for these guys in the coming years! 👀

A huge thanks to @aucklandschoolsmtb for the invite, and to everyone who puts in the work behind the scenes to make these events possible.

This is where my own racing journey started, competing at these grassroots events over five years ago now. It’s pretty cool to be back here and see the next generation of riders coming through.

Hopefully I can make it back to a few more of these events next year! 🤙

VAL DI SOLE 2026 🇮🇹🌈

A really tough one, and hard to walk away with anything other than disappointment. 60th was what I had to settle for on the day. It’s far from where I wanted to be and not the result I came to Val di Sole chasing.

On the day, I gave it everything I had. Pulling on the fern for the first time at a World Championships was a proud moment, but I didn’t represent it the way I wanted to.

Despite the result, I’ve had an amazing time and none of it would’ve been possible without everyone behind me. A massive thank you to my family, sponsors, everyone who donated to my givealittle and to all the people who made this trip possible. It means the world to me!

Less than 365 days until next year. Time to make every one count to be ready for Les Gets!!! 🇫🇷💪😤

𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗔 𝗙𝗜𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗖𝗨𝗣 | 𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗙 🇨🇭

Tough, circus like day out last weekend with the course getting shortened before the race, turning it into a longer XCC style race. Started well but got shuffled back a bit and struggled to move up on the first climb. Worked my way up over the next few laps, then on lap three I dropped my chain and made a mess of getting it back on, losing some valuable time.

Did what I could to work my way back through the field, but in the end I had to settle for 18th. Not the result I wanted, but the legs were good, which is a positive sign heading into World Champs next Thursday 🇳🇿🇮🇹🌍. T-4 days!!!

3 Nations Cup • Winterberg 🇩🇪

First race of the European stint done, coming away with P18 out of 88 riders.

Not the legs I was hoping for on the day, but plenty to take away and we go again next weekend in Switzerland 🇨🇭

Tough week in Canmore to wrap up my trip to Canada.

It wasn’t quite the finish I was hoping for, coming away with 20th in Wednesday’s XCO after struggling to get the legs firing, and 29th on Saturday after a flat tyre on the start loop put me on the back foot early. Despite the setbacks, I kept pushing and gave it everything I had on what was an epic course at the @canmoremtbclassic.

Looking back, this trip has been an absolute blast. The results may not have been exactly what I was chasing, but I’ve learnt so much racing against some of the best junior riders in the world. There are a few things to improve on, but I know the results are there if I can get those things right.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this trip possible, especially Nic and my parents. Back home now for a bit, ready to put in the work before the next challenge in Europe.

Baie-Saint-Paul C1 XCO 🚵🏻💨🇨🇦

More tough, flat out racing today. Annoyingly got caught in traffic and lost a bit of time on the first lap. But I dug deep and managed to claw my way through the field and back into the top 10. Finishing 9th, 3rd among the first year under 19s and just over a minute off the podium!

Happy to be stringing together some solid races and taking good form into a big week at the @canmoremtbclassic! Can’t wait!!!

Baie-Saint-Paul, Canada Cup XCC 🇨🇦 P9

Solid way to kick off the weekend. Settled into the lead group early on, worked my way to the front, and was right in the fight for the podium heading into the last lap. A small mistake while trying to pass, along with getting chopped a few times, put the podium out of reach, but there are plenty of positives to take away. The legs are feeling good, and I’m pumped for XCO tomorrow! 🔥
