If you've listened to Ways of Awe, you already know that our show music is hypnotic—ancestral and immediate, filled with grief, love, and possibility. Thank you to Ross Kirshenbaum, or Levoneh, for composing it, and to Peter Lippman and Jimmy Austin for playing on the track.

Link in bio to listen.

Levoneh is a collaborative music project led by composer and producer, Ross Kirshenbaum, based in Seattle, WA on unceded Duwamish land.

Jimmy inherited both his first name and his first trombone from his paternal grandfather. He brings a distinctively intense, expressive, and collaborative style to a wide variety of projects around the Pacific Northwest and is particularly active in the local Yiddish music scene, organizing community music and dance programming.

Peter Lippman founded the first klezmer band in Seattle, back in 1980. He now plays with Suki's KlezJam. He's been active in human rights and anti-war work since well before that time. Peter loves justice more than anything else.

Gathering signatures for @cut_ties_wa at No Kings today with @levoneleh. In awe of him and all the comrades who have worked for years to make this divestment win possible. Come share mabrouks and mazels with the campaign tomorrow -- and join in to keep the fight going 🇵🇸✨️

facing our truths can be scary, painful, and even heartbreaking. whether it’s been my complicity in white supremacy, genocide and the destruction of the environment or my own queerness…i have been truly terrified to face these truths.

but in the wreckage of my disillusion, and in the wholeness of my grief, i have found liberation, beauty and family. and there is power in this vulnerability…the power to build together clear eyed. and the power to heal.

“prisms” is a story of this journey. and if this resonates with you in some way, i hope you enjoy this video and song.

the last line is “refuah shlema”: a complete healing

may it be so for all of us
