The reception at @rupturelondon and from my last post featuring tracks I’ve explored at 160bpm has been truly mental

Just goes to show the innovation never stops

EXPLORATIONS

For the past few years now I’ve silently been working here and there on productions at 160bpm+ trying to push the boundaries of style and tempo after a conversation me & Sam @gd4ya had about the fusion of sounds being endless as it’s based on your own interpretation…this is just 6 out of probably nearly 100 odd tracks not inc collabs with @reaptimer @futureretrolondon @yaw_on_insta @om_unit +

I was fortunate enough to play a load of this 160 material I made at @sully.e64 curates who allowed me to try something new 🙏 it went down ridiculously well….so going to be running some of these at @outlookfestival b2b with the man himself on the @gd4ya boat (it’s sold out so will try get some footage or recording)

💿 Meet South London’s own @lewiselb

EL-B, aka Lewis Beadle is a legendary producer and DJ who helped shape the UK Garage sound and pave the way for dubstep. As the force behind Ghost Recordings and one half of Groove Chronicles, his work from the late ’90s to early ’00s defined a darker, sharper direction for underground dance music.

Known for pinpoint percussion, clipped rhythms, and tight, swinging grooves, EL-B turned vocals into pure rhythm. His influence runs deep, artists like Skream, Kode9, and Burial trace their roots to his sound.

This year at NEST, we’re honoured to give centre stage to one of the true architects of the UK garage-to-dubstep evolution: EL-B. by @lewiselb

FACT OF THE DAY…

We’re in an age now where a lot of people didn’t see how powerful and what a community of music lovers could really do for a music scene like we did in the 80s/90s/early 00s

I see a lot of division these days from the old guard trying to keep hold of the reigns, egos behind desks in the press thinking they hold the keys to markets, a desire between the younguns to be seen to be better than other cliques in the scene and not to show love, every cog in the machine watching people’s pockets…

What started in the streets will remain and just like the streets the one thing that holds it together and can make it rise and become a beautiful thing again is community by @lewiselb

This NEEDS to be said…

You only get your flowers years after you’ve stopped or when you die…and that nearly happened with @gd4ya

8 years of a label that is no doubt the nu-school heritage label of this era

Anyone who’s ever been part of the label will tell you how special they truly are…they’ve never used it to push their own dj career, always paid artists correct, pushed so many of us into creating our best work and not settling for average, gave advice whenever you needed it, they’ve saved so many of us from giving up or brought artists back from the depths of time and that’s before you talk about all the freebies and events they do to help the local community and push things forward for the future gen 🖤

I would not be here still doing music today if it was not for these lot…and now it’s been 8 years of work, travelling, sets, studio, curries…getting beat at chess on airplanes/trains and I’ve loved every minute of it just one big mental family

Also in a day where everyone is championed as London based and you rarely see support for those that are homegrown London , I’m so proud to see how far one of our own has grown over the years, keep innovating, keep pushing ✊🖤👑

I love when I see people speaking so positively and openly about how scenes evolve into a next scene, a lot of times people tend to warp or get history wrong because they simply wasn’t there and are trying to pick bits of information from the internet which has always been the case for the likes of dubstep

I remember so many of the ‘grime mcs’ being on garage at the early days of the scene, there was so much talent and originality

Massive shout out to my brother @omygoshitsddoublee and @stevothemadman for shining the light on that era and discussing it in such an informative way… them years between 98-01 with the innovation changed everything to evolve garage, grime, dubstep, breakbeat…you name it
