Birthday in New Zealand

This time, I planned my birthday trip to New Zealand. It was my second time spending my birthday in another country.

During this trip, I visited Hobbiton, Waitomo, Rotorua, Edoras, and Akaroa. I saw so many breathtaking landscapes and experienced moments that I know I will remember for a long time.

On my birthday, I had a delicate dinner at a fancy restaurant @inatitoshare and celebrated this special day in my own way.

It was truly a wonderful trip.

From now on, I want to learn to enjoy my life on my own terms. I don't want to worry so much about what other people think of me anymore.

It's not easy, but I'll keep trying.

I recently read Mel Robbins' Let Them, and I really like its concept.

I'm gradually letting go of my expectations of other people.

Let them ignore me.
Let them not invite me.
Let them make their own choices.

And on the other hand—

Let me enjoy my own life.
Let me travel to the places I want to see.
Let me do the things that make me happy.
Let me like myself.

Maybe growing up is learning that not everyone has to choose you—and that's okay.

I can still choose myself.

在紐西蘭，為自己慶祝生日 🎂🇳🇿

這次，我安排了一趟紐西蘭生日旅行。
這也是我第二次在異國度過自己的生日。

這趟旅程，我去了哈比村、懷托摩、羅托魯瓦、伊多拉斯和阿卡羅阿，看見了許多令人屏息的風景，也經歷了很多我想必會記得很久的時刻。

生日當天，我在一家精緻的餐廳享用了一頓美好的晚餐，用自己喜歡的方式，為這個特別的日子慶祝。

這真的是一趟很棒的旅行。

從現在開始，我想學著按照自己的方式，好好享受自己的人生。

我不想再那麼在意別人怎麼看我了。

這並不容易，但我會繼續努力。

最近讀了 Mel Robbins 的《Let Them》，我很喜歡這個概念。

我也正在慢慢放下對別人的期待。

讓他們忽略我。
讓他們不邀請我。
讓他們做他們自己的選擇。

而另一方面——

讓我好好享受自己的人生。
讓我去想去的地方旅行。
讓我去做真正讓自己開心的事情。
讓我學著喜歡自己。

也許，長大就是慢慢明白：

不是每個人都必須選擇你，而這其實沒關係。

因為我依然可以選擇自己。

生日快樂，送給自己。

On January 7, 2022, I entered the campus of Royal Holloway. As I stood in front of the main entrance, I was awestruck by the Hogwarts-like architecture ahead. Knowing that a new journey was about to unfold, the challenges of the UK master's program surpassed my expectations. Failures in exams and assignments made me doubt if I could obtain the degree, but fortunately, I finally did. The taste of success is as personal as knowing one's own reflection in water.

Wearing the graduation gown, I received the scroll from the principal's hands, a moment filled with mixed emotions. Memories from Royal Holloway flooded my mind: countless nights working on reports and studying until dawn in the Emily Wilding Davison Building and Founder's Reading Room, weekly movie nights with the Cinema Society, visiting the Harry Potter film studio with the Harry Potter Society, attending the Summer Ball organized by the Student Union, enjoying double burgers at Packhorse, social gatherings with friends at Crosslands, sipping bubble tea at IMAGE, having meals at the hub, cooking and sharing dinners at Highfield Court, attending cooking classes held by halllife team... Oh, the memories are abundant! This beautiful Victorian architecture will forever reside in my heart, along with the friends I've made during this journey.

In these past two years, I had the opportunity to explore many cities in the UK and some European countries, witnessing diverse landscapes and making friends from around the world. I will forever be grateful for this time.

Despite initial opposition from family, coming to the UK for studies was the right decision. I've made many mistakes in life, but studying in the UK was the most correct choice I've made. The scroll in my hands is the best Christmas gift this year, and at this moment, I feel proud of myself, a rare feeling in my life.

🏛️ A Nostalgic Return to Royal Holloway

Returning to this beautiful campus felt like falling in love all over again. I have truly missed every corner of Royal Holloway.

Stepping back into the Founder’s Building, walking from the North Quad to the South Quad, and seeing the magnificent statues of Queen Victoria and Thomas Holloway brought back so many vivid memories of my time in London.

Standing in the divine Chapel, I could almost hear the echoes of the incredible choir performances I enjoyed while pursuing my Master’s degree in Information Security. This campus is more than just stunning architecture; it is a vital part of my life and professional journey.

A huge thank you to Alex for these stunning photographs. Alex, you are a truly talented photographer. These shots are the perfect supplement to my memories of this picturesque campus and my time as a student here.

Ever since I first watched The Lord of the Rings, Rohan has always stood out to me — a kingdom surrounded by vast grasslands, valleys, and mountains.

On this trip to New Zealand’s South Island, I finally had the chance to visit Mount Sunday, the filming location of Edoras, the capital of Rohan.

As I walked up Mount Sunday and looked across the endless valleys, grasslands, and mountains, I could understand why this place was chosen for The Lord of the Rings. The landscape really has the scale and atmosphere of an epic story.

Although the Edoras set was removed long ago, the mountains and valleys are still here.

Standing at the top, scenes from the movies kept coming back to me — Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and Gandalf arriving in Rohan, the Riders of Rohan crossing the plains, and the kingdom preparing to face Saruman’s army.

A place I had only seen on a screen was finally right in front of me.

Another Lord of the Rings dream came true on my journey through New Zealand.

以前看《魔戒》的時候，我就對洛汗這個建立在遼闊草原與群山之間的王國印象很深。這次來到紐西蘭南島，終於有機會親自來到伊多拉斯（Edoras）的拍攝地——Mount Sunday。

一路走上 Mount Sunday，看著周圍一望無際的山谷、草原和遠方的群山，真的覺得這裡很壯觀。實際站在這片土地上，也突然明白為什麼當初會選擇這裡拍攝《魔戒》。

雖然電影裡伊多拉斯的場景早就已經拆除了，但眼前的山谷和群山幾乎沒有改變。

站在山頂時，我腦中一直浮現電影裡的畫面：亞拉岡、勒苟拉、金霹與甘道夫來到洛汗，洛汗的騎兵奔馳在草原上，以及他們準備迎戰薩魯曼大軍的情景。

以前只能隔著螢幕看到的中土世界，現在真的出現在我的眼前。

這也是我這趟紐西蘭旅行中，另一個屬於《魔戒》的圓夢時刻。

I’ve been fascinated by Middle-earth ever since I watched The Lord of the Rings trilogy as a kid. I especially loved the Shire and its peaceful, simple way of life. After all these years, I finally had the chance to visit the Hobbiton Movie Set in New Zealand.

On the bus to Hobbiton, our guide told us stories about the filming, and they also played the scene where Frodo meets Gandalf. Watching such a familiar scene while actually heading to Hobbiton made me even more excited to see the place for myself.

When I arrived and saw all the Hobbit holes across the hills, I was really excited. I got to see Bag End, Sam’s home, and even go inside a Hobbit house, where I could see the living room, bedroom, kitchen, and all the little details and furniture.

I had seen these places so many times in the movies, so it felt a little surreal to finally walk around them in real life. It really did feel like being in the Shire.

I also learned something interesting during the tour. Some of the artificial leaves made for the movie set actually came from Taiwan. I had no idea there was this small connection between Taiwan and The Lord of the Rings, so that was a nice surprise.

When I was standing on the hill and looking over the whole village. The weather was beautiful that day, and the sunlight over the green hills and Hobbit holes made the whole place look amazing. It was exactly the kind of peaceful scenery I had always imagined when I thought about the Shire.

From watching The Lord of the Rings as a kid to finally walking through Hobbiton in New Zealand, I’m really glad I got to fulfill a dream I’ve had for so many years.

I’m just really happy I finally made it here.

小時候看了《魔戒》三部曲之後，我就一直對中土世界很著迷，尤其很嚮往夏爾那種寧靜、悠閒的生活。沒想到過了這麼多年，我終於有機會來到紐西蘭的哈比村拍攝場景。

坐上前往哈比村的導覽車時，導遊一路介紹《魔戒》的拍攝故事，車上也播放了佛羅多和甘道夫見面的片段。看著熟悉的電影畫面，就開始期待等等真的看到哈比村會是什麼感覺。

抵達之後，看到一間間熟悉的哈比人房屋真的出現在眼前，還是覺得很興奮。一路上看到了佛羅多的家 Bag End、山姆的家，後來還走進哈比人的屋子，看到裡面的客廳、臥室、廚房和各種家具。這些場景以前都只能在電影裡看到，現在卻可以真的走在其中，確實有種來到夏爾的感覺。

導覽途中還知道了一件很有趣的事：哈比村有些為了拍攝製作的人工樹葉，居然是從台灣運來的。以前完全不知道台灣和《魔戒》還有這樣一個小小的連結，聽到的時候覺得滿驚喜的。

站在山丘上俯瞰哈比村的時候。那天天氣很好，陽光照在綠色的山丘和一間間哈比人的房屋上，整個村莊真的很漂亮，也比我想像中更有夏爾的感覺。

從小時候看《魔戒》，到現在真的來到紐西蘭走進哈比村，總算完成了一個放在心裡很多年的願望。

Rotorua — A Journey into Māori Culture 🌋

I visited Rotorua and had such a cool day exploring its geothermal wonders and Māori culture.

I started at Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, where I saw the amazing Champagne Pool, Artist’s Palette, and Lady Knox Geyser. I could even feel the heat radiating from the ground beneath my feet. 🌋

In the afternoon, I visited Te Puia, where I saw powerful geysers, watched a traditional Māori performance featuring the Haka, and wandered through the Māori cultural exhibition.

I’m slowly getting to know the rich and fascinating Māori culture, and there’s still so much more to discover.

看見洞穴裡閃著藍光的螢火蟲。

坐上船緩緩前行，四周一片漆黑，
抬頭卻看見點點星光，
彷彿一片藏在地底的星空。🌌💙

原來，洞穴底下也有這麼一片浩瀚星空。✨

Walking beneath limestone formations that were formed millions of years ago,
I watched tiny glowworms shining blue in the darkness.

As the boat slowly drifted through the cave,
everything around me was completely dark.
Yet above me was a sky dotted with tiny lights,
like a galaxy hidden beneath the earth. 🌌💙

I never knew the stars could be found underground. ✨

離走完阿塱壹古道已經一個星期了。還記得剛抵達台東時天空下著雨，原本有些擔心行程會受到影響。幸運的是，第二天天氣放晴，讓我能夠盡情欣賞阿塱壹古道壯麗的海岸風光。

在烈日下徒步了整整五個小時，腳下滿是鵝卵石，每一步都走得格外費力，對體力與耐力都是不小的考驗。然而，當完成全程的那一刻，心中湧現出滿滿的成就感，所有的疲憊似乎都變得值得。

這趟旅程讓我重新認識了台東的美。遼闊的海岸線、原始自然的景觀，以及一步一步走出來的感動，都讓人難以忘懷。相信未來有機會的話，我一定還會再次造訪台東，重溫這段美好的回憶。

第一次的加拿大之旅就獻給了Vancouver。
原本它只是我前往Calgary參加動漫展前的中繼站，沒想到這座城市的文化底蘊遠遠超出我的想像。

溫哥華是一座由不同背景移民共同塑造出的多元城市，周圍環繞著令人驚嘆的自然景觀，同時也是影視產業的重要據點。我熟悉的許多美劇都曾在這裡拍攝，像是Arrow、The Flash、Supergirl，還有Supernatural。

在溫哥華的這幾天，我留下了很多美好的回憶。
我參加了幾次青旅舉辦的踏青活動，和來自世界各地的旅人一起探索這座城市。那段時間，我去了Gastown欣賞著名的Gastown Steam Clock；也到Granville Island吃漢堡、逛充滿特色的手工藝品店。

在Steveston Village，我一邊品嚐海鮮、一邊沿著海港散步，也認識了當地華人移工的歷史。到了Lynn Canyon Park，則被壯觀的峽谷景色震撼，還挑戰了驚險的吊橋。

我也曾沿著海岸漫步於Stanley Park，欣賞那些令人敬畏的原住民圖騰柱。

而其中最難忘的，莫過於晚上參加Supernatural的夜間導覽。跟著美麗的導遊女孩，一起穿梭在溫哥華市區的拍攝場景之間，聽著當年拍攝時的各種幕後秘辛，也因此對這座城市有了更深的認識。那真是一個很美好的夜晚。

溫哥華的人文歷史與自然景觀都讓我非常驚艷。四月時，街道上還能看見盛開的櫻花，整座城市美得像電影場景一樣。

如果有機會，我一定還想再訪溫哥華，繼續探索那些還沒去過的地方，以及更多影劇作品拍攝過的場景。

Banff National Park was absolutely breathtaking. Walking carefully through the snow, surrounded by towering mountains covered in white, felt almost unreal. After ducking through a tunnel, a massive waterfall suddenly appeared before my eyes — the scale and power of it were incredible.

The scenery at Lake Louise left me speechless. The entire lake was frozen solid, with huge snow-covered mountains standing on both sides. It was unbelievably beautiful — grand, silent, and ancient. The atmosphere truly felt like something out of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring or Game of Thrones, like stepping into a frozen world from another age.

Meanwhile, downtown Calgary was freezing cold. I honestly didn’t expect it to still be this cold in late April. The wind was so strong while walking through the streets that all I wanted was to escape indoors. On the second day, it even started snowing heavily. Seeing snow falling everywhere in late April was such a magical and unforgettable experience.

Banff National Park 很壯觀，小心翼翼地走在雪地上，環顧四周被白雪覆蓋的群山。低頭穿過山洞後，映入眼簾的是那巨大的瀑布，氣勢磅礴，讓人忍不住停下腳步，只想靜靜地看著眼前的景色。

而在 Lake Louise，眼前的景色更是讓我說不出話。整座湖完全結冰，湖的兩側矗立著被白雪覆蓋的大山，天地之間安靜得像另一個世界。那種壯闊又蒼涼的氛圍，真的很有《The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring》和《Game of Thrones》裡北境的感覺，彷彿下一秒就會看到遠方有旅人穿越冰原。

而在 Calgary 市中心，則是另一種震撼。原本以為四月底已經算春天了，沒想到竟然還是冷得刺骨。走在街道上，強風吹得人只想趕快躲進室內。到了第二天甚至開始下雪，大雪紛飛覆蓋整座城市。沒想到在四月底，竟然還能親眼看到這樣的雪景，真的令人感動。
