I’ve been sitting on this the last day, and it’s hard to write this or even put into words the impact softball has had on my life over the past 17 years.
First off let me just say what a blessing it is to end my career where it all started, in Texas. Playing softball in Pennsylvania for four years and then being able to go anywhere in the country for NCAA’s and it happened to be Texas is absolutely no coincidence, and I couldn’t thank God enough for blessing me with that type of closure for a sport that has been my whole life.
To some people softball may seem like “just a game” but it has never been that. It simply taught me life; how to work hard, handle failure, work as a team, and never quit no matter how hard it gets.
Softball, you have taught me lifelong lessons I will now carry with me everywhere I go. You have shaped me into the person I am today and I will forever be grateful for everything I have experienced and accomplished the last 17 years. You’ve given me some of my greatest joys and deepest heartbreaks, but through all the laughs and all the tears, you’ve made me a stronger person constantly making me pick myself right back up all for the LOVE of the game.
You’ve been the one constant in my life, and I will forever cherish the family and home you gave me.
Thank you to the game that raised me. by @lexi.edgett
