There are FPVs flying around us. She speaks with the soldier in Ukrainian and omits that a drone hit our house. I still understand — I understand what was said, I understand why she keeps it quiet.

On the frontline, panic spreads like the plague. Once the fear takes over you, it starts to eat up the calm of others. My adrenaline is spiking, but I keep eating my apple and say nothing.

The road is covered in ice; the car is already sliding like an amateur ice skater. I can’t go faster.
“I hope we are not the most interesting target on the road tonight. We are driving too slow to be able to escape,” she says.
The closer we get to the russians, the slower we drive. The ice gets thicker, the holes more frequent. I feel like we are being hunted — someone somewhere not far is sitting in a warm room, looking at his little screen and picking who to hunt: two girls carrying food, a grandma taking her evening walk, or a more static target like a home. Feeling hunted turns you into an animal — panic overcomes you and you curse yourself for coming here.

MISSING: Viktor Zinchenko, 69, from Orikhiv, Ukraine. Missing since 8 September

Viktor Zinchenko is a 69-year-old resident of Orikhiv, a frontline town in Ukraine, who has been taking care of wounded and abandoned animals. As of 8 September, he has disappeared.

For the past few months, he brought animals from the frontline on foot and by bicycle to Bulgarian volunteer @pe_cats_and_coffee . He never missed a meeting until now. People close to him are worried that he might be in captivity, which is considered a crime against humanity.

Day 3 of posting BTS from my feature film “Nikol, it’s all f*cked up”. For all of you who are new here - I’ve been filming with Nikol since 2024, and came to Ukraine as an artist that felt the urge to do something about the atrocities that russia is committing.

This video is us at 3 different trips : the top one is my first day under shelling, the middle one is the winter in Pokrovsk and the bottom one is us coming back to Kyiv after filming in dugouts near Kupyansk.

What saves you in this wаr is being able to keep a healthy sense of humour.

my first roll of film from Donbas, some of these places have been completely erased

I post these as I believe the memory of these places must stay alive. Today it is nearly impossible to get so close to the zero line due to the constant FPV looming overhead.

Soft launching my feature film that has been already 3 years in the making!

It follows the story of a Bulgarian artist (me) and a 20 years old Ukrainian fixer (Nikol) who film the Ukrainian frontline as towns that were once safe get erased from the map. The film also captures how both Nikol and Lexi grow up in front of the camera, and how they build a friendship through their conversations and exchange of video messages when apart.

It is the eve before the 9th of September, one of the darkest days in contemporary Bulgarian history - the violent occupation of then neutral Bulgaria by the Soviet Union.
I decided to share archival footage of a lineage of resistance starting from the Goryani in the early days of Soviet occupation to contemporary Bulgarians standing up against their multiple corrupt governments. The leftovers of the Soviet system and the Bulgarian communist party are still being protested against.
In tribute to everyone who was arrested, beaten and injured during the 2020 protests, I will keep sharing the archival footage I have from those days when everyone was full of hope and we were so young and idealistic.

Christmas on the frontline

I spent last Christmas on the frontline in Ukraine living with these Ukrainian soldiers who showed us around their area of work. Our location was approx 6-7km from russian positions and fpv drones were flying at all times. Despite the unbearable cold, the defenders keep on fighting. These photos are some of our brief moments at home, mainly in between trips around the area.
