We all have those tropes and genres we usually don’t go for 🙅🏻‍♀️ And normally, I’m pretty good at sticking to my reading lane… 😂

BUT THESE AUTHORS CONVINCED ME. 👏🏼📖

There are definitely some tropes and genres that had me thinking “yeah, probably not for me”… but then I read the blurb, saw other tropes that caught my attention, and suddenly I was like… “Okay, maybe I can give this a try” 👀 😅

Sometimes it only takes one or two tropes, an intriguing blurb, or an author I already love to completely change my mind 🫶🏼

And honestly? I’m so glad I did! 🥹❤️

💕 PLUS-SIZE FMCs 💕📚

Okay, this challenge day was MADE for me. 😂🙌🏽

Pretty much 90% of what I read features a plus-size FMC, so trust me when I say I could make this list way longer. 😂📚 These are just a few of the books I’ve loved that weren’t released in 2026.

Seeing plus-size women as the love interests, the heroines, the women being desired, pursued, adored, and loved exactly as they are has meant SO much to me. 🥹💕 Reading these stories has genuinely helped me with my self-esteem and confidence, especially when I get to see characters who look more like me getting their happily ever after. 🫶🏽✨

Representation matters. Seeing yourself in the stories you love can be incredibly powerful. 💗📖

And honestly… give me ALL the plus-size FMCs. I will never complain. 🙌🏽💕👏🏼

🎸💋 Fake engagement, a rockstar, and a whole lot of unresolved feelings?! SIGN ME UP 🫠🔥

What I loved:

📚 Book-loving MMC
🥹 Mutual pining and unresolved feelings
❤️‍🩹 Emotional healing and groveling
🔥 Plenty of spice
🫂 Found family and band friendships

Kat is back on tour as the band's manager, working alongside her ex, Beckett, and it's painfully obvious that neither of them has moved on. 👀 When a kiss to distract the paparazzi turns into a fake engagement, they're forced to spend even MORE time together. Because apparently, working together wasn't enough torture. 🤡😂

The PINING. The jealousy. The miscommunication. THE FACT THAT HE READ AND REREAD HER BOOKS BECAUSE THEY WERE INSPIRED BY THEIR RELATIONSHIP?! 😭❤️‍🩹 And don't even get me started on his tattoos being inspired by her books. SIR, YOU ARE SO DOWN BAD. 🫠🥹

Beckett is such a book-loving, quietly devoted MMC, and watching him try to navigate his feelings for Kat had me SCREAMING. The way he still knows her so well, remembers the little things, asks for consent, and reassures her when she's scared? MY HEART. 🥹❤️

The band dynamic was another highlight! The teasing, the found-family vibes, and the friendships were so much fun. But Jackson's storyline brought some heavier moments, exploring alcoholism, family trauma, and the difficulty of admitting when someone needs help. It added emotional depth, even if I wanted to shake some sense into him more than once. 😩

And the SPICE? 🥵🔥 Let's just say Beckett absolutely understood the assignment. The chemistry was 🔥, and Kat wasn't afraid to voice what she wanted. WE LOVE TO SEE IT. 🙌🏼

📚 🍁 September Reads! 🍂📚

September was all about slowing things down a little. I’ve been intentionally taking a step back from ARCs and giving myself more room to focus on TBR 💕📖

I also started a little self-challenge for Hispanic Heritage Month: making a conscious effort to read more stories by Latine authors and seek out more Latine representation in my reading 🫶🏽🌎📚

I’m excited to keep this going beyond September and make more space for these stories on my shelves and in my TBR 🙌🏼
