as a freshman…

this has been a very difficult year to say the least… given the opportunity to continue my softball career was a blessing. in the fall, i had a good feeling about the progress i was making and when it came to part ways for winter break i was determined to continue the hard work i had already put in… fast forward to december, i came down with pneumonia that put me out of any physical activity, running, lifting, playing softball until my symptoms were gone. when the time came to wean back into playing i felt hopeless. i had to pass the fit test for the second time and it felt like my body did nothing but fight against the goals i had in mind. i did not become cleared to play until the first week of march.

through it all, i had my girls. who had been there for me since day 1. i came to college nervous about making friends or finding my group of people. these girls are my people. they are the best gift i have been given and i couldn’t ask for a better group of people. my teammates and coaches supported me through my recovery and believed in me when i didn’t and i cannot thank them enough for it.

reflecting on this year into the summer i am leaving queens with a group of built in friends/sisters that i will hold on to forever. i will forever support them through their decisions and hard times just like they did for me. good things happen to good people as my Coach V says and these are some of the best people that i hope only good for.
