Here’s a guide to my first three novels: The Year of the Witching, House of Hunger, and my most recent release An Academy for Liars. These stories are radically different, but each of them centers a broken young woman trying to find her place in as twisted and terrifying world. I put my whole heart into these books, and I’m so grateful to every single person who’s given them a chance. All three of these novels are available to order wherever books are sold. 🖤

THE GODFREY HOME FOR DEMONIC CHILDREN—my next adult horror novel—releases May 18th 2027 and is available for pre-order now. More about the book below. . .

A young exorcist faces demons both real and figurative in this searing horror novel from the author of The Year of the Witching and An Academy for Liars.

At eight years old, Juliet Godfrey was violently possessed by Bedlam, a vicious demon with a penchant for arson. After several failed exorcisms and a fiery tragedy of the demon’s making, Juliet was sent to the gothic halls of the Godfrey Home for Demonic Children and entrusted into the care of famed exorcist Luther Godfrey. There, under Luther’s careful instruction, she learns to form an uneasy truce with the demon inside of her.

Twenty years after her possession, a steely-eyed Juliet travels the country as an exorcist, removing powerful (and often violent) demons from their human hosts, and occasionally referring the rare children like her, who are infected with particularly dangerous demons, to Godfrey House.

When Luther Godfrey dies following the disappearance of Seth, one of his troubled young charges, Juliet returns home for the first time in many years to attend his funeral. But upon her arrival, Juliet discovers that Luther left Godfrey House, and the care of all its students, to her ex-boyfriend, her ex-best friend, and her. With the fate of Godfrey House hanging in the balance, the three must set aside their differences, protect Luther’s legacy, and find Seth before he attempts a dangerous exorcism that could end his life.

🔥🏠 COVER REVEAL🏠🔥
The Godfrey Home for Demonic Children by Alexis Henderson
.
One of my all-time favorite authors is releasing a new book May 18th, 2027 so save the date for this new horror story exploring themes of grief and inherited traumas with Henderson’s flare for dark fantasy/horror/gothic genre blending
🔥🏠🔥
@berkleypub hardcover-
The Exorcist meets Southern Gothic lit in this dark fantasy/horror mashup from award-winning author Alexis Henderson, following a woman who takes charge of a special home for Demonically Afflicted Children twenty years after her own demonic possession. In this chilling novel inspired by Henderson’s own childhood growing up in a conservative Southern Baptist community, where the horrors of demonic possession were often preached as a very real possibility, possession becomes both literal horror and metaphor for grief, shame, rage, and inherited trauma. This is a horror for readers of stories steeped in monstrous femininity and morally complex heroines.

I had the most amazing time at @bookcon! I was smiling and laughing so hard during my panel with @alix.e.harrow and @olivieblake that my cheeks hurt by the time it ended. I had the best time wandering the convention floor and attending panels with @thisstoryaintover. There was so much to see and do—it was equal parts exhilarating and overwhelming, but in the best way. I ended the trip with the most heavenly tapas dinner with @maddiesmartinez, @thisstoryaintover, and Bailey. (I also have to give a shoutout to the transcendent dumplings I devoured immediately after my flight landed in New York.)

To everyone who stopped me to say hi or attended the panel/my signing: thank you so, so much. It was such a joy to meet each and every one of you. 🖤

Extra thanks to @literaryintersections for painting her nail to look like the cover of ACADEMY FOR LIARS and @caitisbooked, @booksatlunch, @thisstoryaintover for sending me photos to post. You guys are real ones. 😅 by @lexish

We were excited to go One-on-One with Alexis Henderson (@lexish), author of WHEN I WAS DEATH, a paranormal thriller about a group of teen girls who must reap souls in exchange for Death sparing their lives. 🖤 ⏳

During our conversation, Alexis shared how a dark time in her life encouraged her to find an outlet for her grief and anger—writing WHEN I WAS DEATH. She also discussed how the gothic atmosphere of Savannah, Georgia, inspired this haunting story. 🕯️ 🥀
