goal #2 for 2025: let him. let him love you, care for you, dote over you, show up for you, carry you. whatever he is offering: let him. a lot of people tell you when you get married that you’ll have to “choose” your partner at some point. love is not enough. effort. choices. that’s what makes a marriage last. what they don’t tell you as much is that you have to be open to what “choosing” looks like for the other person. it might look like making sure you always have a straw, handling all the bill payments, or driving through down town. it’s the easiest thing in the world to become defensive, “i got it. i can do that. i’m not incompetent.” they know. but they also know that while you went to grab the straw, you got distracted and put the seasonings away, that you’ll pay all the bills at the same time and leave no living money, and that while you say you can handle downtown no issue these days, they know it still stresses you out a little. so they’ll do these things, because…they know. and so the choice becomes accepting the love. and that’s what i tried to do this year. i will shout sky’s praises from the high heavens every single day i have on this earth. i couldn’t dream up a better husband. by @lexisuhhh
