I really don’t know where I would be without you. There will never be enough words to describe everything that you were to me. Watching both you and mom go through this has been gut wrenching, but your strength will always leave me in awe. Thank you for being my protector, my best friend, my sun. I never expected our time to be over so quickly, but I’m happy that you can be at peace. I love you, grandma. Say hi to Ms. Fuzzy for me <3 by @lexjochoreo

Our next chapter to our Season 18 is fueled by absolute FIRE. With a National Championship score of 296.6 out of 300 points, we present to you: Money Heist 💰

This Advanced Teen Large group won both a Breakthrough Performance award in hip-hop and a National Championship Routine award at Groove National Competition in Nashville, TN. 🏆

Coming off of her first season of Hip Hop choreography, we speak with Choreographer and KMSOD Dance Instructor @lexjo17 for a deeper dive into this piece:

“From the very first day of choreography to our final performance at Nationals, “Money Heist” challenged us in every way and pushed us far beyond our comfort zones. With this being my first time choreographing an advanced hip hop piece, both the dancers and I had to place immense trust in the process, and in each other. Standing here today, my heart is full of gratitude and pride, knowing just how well that trust paid off.

While the dance itself may not follow a deep storyline, it speaks volumes about who our dancers are. Our power lies within our versatility and our constant drive to be different. They may have just moved you to tears with an emotional masterpiece, but now they’ll have you up, laughing, and wanting to dance with them. We do real hip hop; dynamic, authentic, and filled with energy. Every time these kids step onto that stage, they transform into someone entirely new. They are truly never afraid to break the mold, and that is what has carried them to this moment.

This piece will forever hold a special place in my heart. While the first place finishes and the national title are incredible, what means the most to me are the memories we made along the way. The late nights, the laughter, the setbacks we pushed through together. I’ll always remember the drive, the passion, and the remarkable determination that brought this piece to life. That’s what truly makes it unforgettable. I love these dancers, and this piece with my whole heart, and I want to thank these kids for putting their trust in me through this incredible journey.”
