the retreat ‘26 —

my time in nashville felt like a warm hug. having the opportunity to spend days alongside individuals who are committed to the advancement of our work & communities was absolutely beautiful. i’m forever thankful for the many opportunities i get to spend with those who share, listen, and celebrate those around them.

throughout our time at @vanderbiltu, we participated in deep dive discussions, had intentional conversations with guest speakers, toured the @vanderbiltnphc house, toured @thenmaam, created content, laughed, hugged, cried, and leaned in.. fully. thank you again, @blackfslpro (@haymarie.xo & @jaybernard + the rest of the planning team).

the countdown continues as we’ll reconnect in a short 128 days in the windy city. can’t wait to see & love on you all so soon. 🩶 #InCommunity #TheRetreat #LexTheHESAKid taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @lexthehesakid

What’s your favorite Black saying? 👀🖤

From “Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready” to “I’m not one of your little friends,” we all grew up hearing sayings that still live rent-free in our heads. 😂

today we got to visit the only museum in the United States devoted to preserving and celebrating the many music genres created, influenced, and inspired by African Americans @thenmaam 🤩 this created a space for us to learn the deep history of our music & gave us the opportunity to talk about what legacy means to us. special shoutout to @getinterconnected for sponsoring our visit! we appreciate you so
much! 🫂

i’m incredibly grateful for the experiences, relationships, and opportunities this journey has brought. this past year has challenged me, stretched me, and filled me with so much gratitude.

i’m thankful for every student, colleague, mentor, and friend who has been a part of this journey. the support, encouragement, and shared experiences have challenged me to grow and continue to shape me into a better educator, friend, and leader. i’m grateful for all this year has taught me and excited for all that is still to come. #GoDawgs #GoGreek #OneYearAnniversary ♥️ taken in Go Dawgs by @lexthehesakid

i am, undoubtedly, who i am because of the wonderful women who have shaped my life. i don’t think there will ever be an adequate approach to express my love + gratitude to you all. i’m forever thankful for those who have stepped in, guided, assisted, cared for, leaned on, led, supported, and loved me. i get the privilege now of teaching what you taught me to wonderful young women in my life too. i am because we are, & you’ll forever be a part of me. happy international women’s day to the monumental women in my life. celebrate those in your life today. 👩🏽‍🤝‍👩🏾🩷 #InternationalWomensDay #LexTheHESAKid by @lexthehesakid
