Here are a few things I do as a “Nontraditional” muva! We are full of life & personality over here honey. Again this is what works for MY child in MY household. Not asking you to agree, but for those who can resonate.. enjoy 😊 comment below some things you do that society considers “Nontraditional”. 1. The food gets eaten & she loves having options. It’s never that deep. I encourage autonomy & decision making for herself (within reason). 2. Curse words are just words. I allow her to be comfortable enough to repeat them from a story and/or song without criticism or chastisement. Don’t curse AT people, especially adults. Respect is #1. It’s a safe space over here 🫶🏼 3. Women are judged & belittled enough .. I refuse to shrink Marley’s personality so that she’s more palatable to society. Respecfully, fxck yall 😊 4. Spanking does not resonate with MY child. I feel as though it does more harm than good. We teach & encourage emotional regulation. As well as how to use our words in order to problem solve & work through conflict together. 5. Screen time is very limited. I push Marley to tap into her creativity and imaginative play like we used to back in the day. These kids (and parents) rely too much on constant stimulation from screens rather than have the opportunity to just be bored sometimes. 6. Music is a huge part of culture and self-expression, and I’d rather teach her that there’s a time, place, and context for certain language than pretend those words don’t exist. Ain’t nothing wrong with a lil cuss word sprinkle sprinkle to add to the car karaoke sesh, she will be okay. I’m sure she hears worse at school. If you resonated with this type of mothering, you’ll love it over here! Remember to be kind to yourself & enjoy the little things.. you got this mamas 😘 #mothering #parenting #mommydaughterduo by @lexx.tyus
