✴︎Form Study: The Seed✴︎

My inner child was craving to paint again, like a wide-eyed kid, near-tantrum, begging her mother for rainbow-arranged paints at a supermarket.
It wasn’t a rational decision, but I bought them for her anyway and she hasn’t put down the brush for days. by @lexxblank

My Bible school days are long over and my faith in the holy book along with them. But Jesus (or whoever wrote him) had some good lines ;)

Now I’m entering the next chapter of my life in a book of my own writing.

The Seed Initiation is a personal ritualistic act in preparation for the next season.

Each item - a symbol of my constructed self.

Gathered in a painted treasure box and buried in the generative soil between two tall trees where a sprouting seed welcomed my excavation.

May the shell fall away and feed new growth. by @lexxblank

As I was waking up, I noticed Eartheater’s “Paradise Rains” looping in my head. It was the soundtrack to my dream that felt more like a visit to another dimension with many-layered scenes and symbols that answered the deepest questions I’ve been carrying.

With every second it was slipping away and I knew I couldn’t keep it. It faded back into the dark soil of the unconscious - the place I return to pray to the Self beneath the surface that knows what the skin-clothed self has forgotten.

I am returning to the depths where my soul can breathe.

I’m opening the doors to The Adornment Passage.

I’m inviting others is to come with me but if no one follows, I’m going through it alone.

It’s a path that begins with a burial.

A planting of a seed.

May the shell crack open, fall away and feed new growth. by @lexxblank

A mnemonic object that brings to mind and body what the soul has not forgotten

I came up with the term as I couldn’t find a fitting one to describe the kind of jewellery I wanted to make.

Amulet came close as jewellery used in ritual but its inherent meaning - protection from external forces outside of our control - felt like quite the opposite of my intention:

To let go of fear of the unknown, as well as the known cultural symbols,

to center in on my inner symbolic language and create adornment whose power is in the making process
and purpose - a reminder of my true form.

I don’t know what to call it…
Nail grills? Metal nail art? Nail jewellery? Nail armour?

I haven’t seen anything like this before but it makes so much sense that I don’t know why no one has come up with this yet… or have they? Let me know if you’ve seen it before, I’m curious.

I just made it because I wanted it for myself and it didn’t exist.

I’ve had the idea for over a year now and finally got some time to make it.
Im still experimenting and testing. Currently the process is complex and custom.

I’m not taking any orders as I only make custom for myself (and gifts for friends).
If you really want something like this, I could teach you how to make your own.
But it’s not that simple.

I teach the lost wax technique in my online jewellery course that centres around experimentation and originality.
With that approach you could invent your own personal ⟡armour⟡ - that’s the true aim.

And the “nail grills”… if my students want it and I’ve got the technique down, sure I’ll share ♡ by @lexxblank

˖⊹ ࣪ Silver nail jewellery experiments ⊹ ࣪ ˖

These are slightly different to the ones in the previous post, less “nail grills” and more “nail art” in approach.

I’m a jewellery designer not a nail artist but I’d mostly do my own 💅 and it was an extremely time-consuming effort with some practical limitations so I came up with my own version ⏾

I’m still refining and making just for myself but if all goes well, I may include it in my course as the techniques of making personal silver jewellery (and resin as experimental extension) are already there. by @lexxblank

Making jewellery for myself is a special kind of pleasure - a luxury, a need. I’ve come to see that originality begins when you create for yourself.

Before I open the next intake for my jewellery course, I’m taking some time to make for myself. To practice all I teach, which isn’t just how to make jewellery but how to make it your own.
From the depths.
Where your original self lies and waits to be awakened…
