A little catch up about what's been going on with me- switching up the painting for writing- and my upcoming plans!
I honestly can't wait to share my novel with the world, and have been busy planning the next two, this week!
I also can't wait for September, where I will have a lot more breathing room for my creative endeavours- the heart wants what it wants! 📚🎨

The final week of my October 100 words a day challenge!
Swipe to see how much I added to my WIP in total this month! 📝

It's definitely got me into a great habit of picking up my laptop even if I only have a few minutes spare. 🙌🏻

I'm going to keep it up in November; I only have about 10k left to go to complete my first draft, which I'm desperate to get finished for my daughter asap! 📖

Thank you to @stuart.dejour_author
@kjsayerauthor and @grow.flow.write for the challenge! Good luck to the November cohort! 🙌🏻

Every year on Halloween morn', my daughters' pumpkins leave them a gift or two; usually a spooky book and some treats 🎃🎁

This year the pumpkins brought "Girl of Darkness" by @kristinadowling_author and "Wishbound" by @clemencybrownbooks 📚✨ which both look fab and I can't wait to read myself!

Happy Halloween Everyone! 🧡👻💚🎃💜

P.S- Bonus points if you can guess who the pumpkins are?! 🎃🤔

P.P.S- Yes, we do paint our pumpkins rather than carve them- much easier!! 😂

Finished the third week of writing at least 100 words a day in October....
I was hoping to write 5000 words this week, but I forgot that I had to work an extra day this week, so that stole some of my time...
Scroll through to see if I made my target...

Been away on a child free weekend up North ✨

Newcastle is always a great time; the people, the architecture, the football club, the culture 🖤🤍

We went to see The Strokes at the arena and they were amazing 🤩 They were such a huge part of our formative years and it was really special to see them with my husband, in a city that means so much to us.

Have you visited Newcastle before? 🏰

3 is my lucky number so imagine my delight when I checked my word count and saw this! 🤩🤩🤩

(Full disclosure, it was actually on 33303 when I checked, so I added an extra 30 to make it perfect 👌🏻)

How many words did I write this week, in my 100 words a day challenge for October??? by @lexysmithart

Last night I took my daughter to see her favourite author @katiekirbyauthor at the @henleylitfest to celebrate the launch of her new book "Lottie Brooks’s Twelve Disasters of Christmas" 🎄📚

Katie used to write a parenting blog called "Hurrah for Gin", and I also had a parenting blog at the same time, so I knew Katie a bit back then and her blog was always my favourite one to read.
She's absolutely hilarious and draws these amazing stick characters that she somehow makes incredibly expressive and also hilarious!
The fact she's turned her talents to children's books, and has seen unbelievable success with her "Lottie Brooks" series is no surprise to me! 💖

My daughter devours "Lottie Brooks" books. When a new one comes out she tries hard to ration her reading so it's not over too soon, but it proves very hard to do! She re-reads them over and over, and my husband and I love reading them to her too- often ending up in tears of laughter! 🤣🍔

Lottie is not only absolutely hilarious, it's also completely relatable as well as dealing with the struggles of starting secondary school, going through puberty, and navigating friendships and relationships. 👩🏻‍🤝‍👩🏼🧑‍🤝‍🧑

My current WIP is hugely influenced by my daughter's love of the Lottie books, and I print out drafts of it to keep her going between Lottie books! 📝

It was so special getting to take her to see Katie last night- hearing your favourite author read the words you love so much is amazing! Lottie will always be a precious part of my daughter's childhood. ✨

We're so lucky to have the Henley Literary Festival on our doorstep, but if you're not close by you can still enjoy it via the video links you can buy- check out their website for details. 📚

I URGE ALL OF YOU TO READ "LOTTIE BROOKS" - NO MATTER YOUR AGE! You won't regret it!

First week of the October 100 words a day challenge with @stuart.dejour_author @kjsayerauthor @grow.flow.write ✍🏻

A very busy week to start so I'm quite happy with the results (apart from totally forgetting to write anything yesterday as I never usually write on a Wednesday 🫣)

Hoping for bigger numbers next week!! 💪🏻

How is your writing going so far this October??
