I just wanted to say I’m beyond grateful for my mentor who pushed me to pursue my Master’s degree. Coming from an HBCU, this journey was a cultural shock and there was moments where I didn’t feel smart enough or meant to be here .

Behind the scenes, I was balancing 3 jobs , full time classes and an internship while silently battling stress, doubt , and negative thoughts . I cried , I struggled , and almost gave up however today I can say I preserved.

I am a first generation Master’s graduate , and that means the world to me. Without God and my support system, I wouldn’t be in this position today. Jeremiah 29:11 kept me grounded through it all : “ For I know the plans I have for you …” And now I can see that plan unfolding right in front of me.

I chose this career that I’m truly passionate about — social work — and I get to continue my father’s legacy through this path. This degree is bigger than me…
It’s purpose. It’s healing. It’s legacy.

I did it yall 🥹🥂
