✨When I was first hired at Universal Orlando as a host for Fear Factor Live, I had no idea how to host. I had never had an in-ear monitor, never worked with a camera person, never spoken to an audience that large, never spoken to guests on a microphone. 😅

I could never have known that that would lead to 9 years of dreams coming true. Roles that would mean so much to me and experiences I’ll never forget. Pushing myself in ways I never thought possible. 💫

🚧From hosting FFL, to helping develop Penelope and open an emporium, to being “terminated”, to learning how to cast spells, to speaking the legends of the Waturi, and countless other opportunities. I’ve interviewed executives, celebrities, guests, and team members. I’ve introduced rock stars, horror icons, and the Grinch.

When we moved to Central America I thought I was sacrificing this part of my life to have the opportunity of a different life for my family. Being asked to come back to co-host the Grand Opening Livestream for Universal Epic Universe is such a full circle moment for me. It’s emotional and nerve-wracking and I’m honored to be part of it. 💛

So thank you, @universalorlando and thank you to @dougbdubs for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime (so much of my career I owe to you—excited for the production kilt tonight!). I can’t believe I get to be part of Universal history with this INCREDIBLE opening. 🌎🎢

You’ll see me at the desk with my co-host @patrickadougall welcoming celebrities, interviewing Universal Destinations and Experiences legends, and taking you through the entire night, ending with an incredible surprise. 🎆🎇

There will be tears and laughter and probably a few flubs—but it will be an EPIC CELEBRATION. ✨

A Christmas Karen is out at MIDNIGHT TONIGHT!!! I had SO much fun at the premier with all of these amazing people!
✨
Thank you @lalaoquinn @jonbinkowski @lisaenossmith for allowing me the experience of being part of this JOYful film (do you see what I did there? 😜). Thank you to our costume designer @clossfarley for dressing me and hiding a growing baby bump. Thank you to our DP @daniel_stilling_dff you are a dream to work with (WE ARE DANGEROUSLY CLOSE). Thank you to the entire crew who made this film possible through the long hours and kept us laughing the entire time.
🎄
Thank you to my Karen, @chelesimms one of my comedy idols, for being the BEST late night/early morning partner I could have hoped for. You are just so fucking wonderful in every way. I love you.
👻
Thank you to my fellow ghosts @better_articulate_than_never (aka Coochie Chain), @rolinplease (a surprise talent to NO ONE), @leekarlinsky (who is honestly an undiscovered genius in my opinion).
🎁
And lastly thank you to my family. To my Kaya Maeve in my belly while I filmed thank you for behaving yourself so Mummy could traipse around in high heels at 4am while 6 months pregnant. Thank you to my parents who have always supported me no matter what wild and wacky stuff I throw their way. And thank you to @trevknowsrealestate for your unwavering faith in me. You are my cheerleader, my teammate, my love. Thank you for putting up with a crazy shoot schedule, for foot massages 🤢, and for bringing me green tea in bed at 2pm after overnights. You are my perfect person. ♥️

And if you’ve got this far—well done! Swipe ➡️ for a surprise BTS shot and a little insight to how our overnight shoots went. 😜

HI FRIENDS! 🌸 Going to make a real go of creating some content around my VO work. I get so many questions about it, so I’d love to answer them all in one video.

✨I am by NO means an expert, but I’d love to pass on knowledge that was given in good faith to me.

❓Drop your questions here and I’ll be doing a video soon!

🥹And that’s a series wrap on Discover Universal’s Checked In. 😭
✨
Here are some photos I don’t know if I’m allowed to show you. 😅
✨
I did my first episode in July of 2021 and then the second episode a year to the DAY later. Literally pre-pregnancy, to cutting my maternity leave short to shoot, pumping in between takes, 11 hotels, a thousand awkward tourists, so many weird faces, bad jokes, F Bombs, moving to another country, something like 20 MILLION YouTube views, and one Epic theme park opening later.
✨
This crew. These people. I am forever grateful for the relationships I got to make and the humans who crossed my path through this project.
💫🌎
I got 2 goodbyes because I never thought they’d have me back to shoot the Epic hotels. And this one hit just as hard. Thank you to the ENTIRE crew but definitely to @paulinatoman @robbloomcw @me_shell_grace @mikeymelendezz @danae_string @anacrane_beauty @jenniferbeverly , Jay Levine, and Jimi Kunkel who have seen me through it all, and @aven.rec who started this crazy adventure with me and @showbizzj who didn’t hate working with me enough to bring me back to close out the series. 💛
✨
Hi, I’m Leyla. Checking in for the final time, so you can check it out. 👉🏼🏨

I HATE GATEKEEPING.🖕
✨
When I was first starting VO there was so much misinformation and self-appointed “gurus” and professionals who didn’t want to help newbies. But one person, @thedeepvoiceguy.llc 🧡 opened his studio to me and continues to mentor me to this day.
✨
I always swore if I ever got anywhere with this I would do the same.
📝
So here is my whole equipment setup! I had to reset from traveling to FL and thought I would share.
✨
This equipment has been in a closet booth in Florida, stuffed into a TINY closet in an RV, under many blanket forts, and now in my wooden jungle booth and it’s never steered me wrong.
🖍
If you’re making notes: 🎙️ @sennheiser MKH416, 🎧 @sony MDR7506, 🎛 @wearefocusrite Scarlett Solo, 🖥 @apple Mac Mini M2 Pro (2023) w/ a @samsung 24” T350 Monitor.
😘
Let me know if you have any questions! Let’s let people in. There’s room for more than one type of soda on the shelves. 🥤

39☀️

I dont have a clever caption. Aging is wierd. A privilege, but also a pain.

Anyone who really knows me knows I am absolute rubbish at celebrating my birthday. I never want a fuss to be made and I hate putting other people out. It is PEAK Britishness.

But I can say I am in love with my little family and I’m endlessly grateful to @officialtrevorlakin for always making my birthday special…even when I’m British about it.

Trying to build my vocal health toolkit for these morning VO sessions and I took some inspo from @maryspacekate with this nebulizer. Definitely works. Definitely feels a little sus. 😂
