For ages 0 - 3.🎨Mira Mira Colors & 🔶️Mira Mira Shapes by Lourdes Heuer Illus. Juliana Perdomo - I love sharing bilingual books in my LFL. Both of these board books have Spanish text with die-cuts throughout the books. For ages 0 - 6.🦖Where Are All The Dinosaurs? by Peter Curtis - is a rhyming search-and-find activity book that follows young Compsognathus, Dinosaur Squeak as she looks for her friends. Kids will enjoy looking for the hidden dinosaurs, plants, insects, and reading the fun facts. For ages 0 - 7.🦧Pretty Close, but Not the Same: A Side-by-side Look at Confusable Critters by Meg Fleming Illus. Steph Stilwell - in this funny book kids will learn about pairs of similar animals that are often confused for each other, and what makes them unique. It also features consignment kitchen items, a small wine bar, and hosts cooking classes and author events. The owner, Robin Wheelright is a former chef, and she wanted the shop to feel like you were in a friend's kitchen and library. Mission accomplished! My daughter took home six cookbooks to add to her collection. 💜𝕭𝖔𝖔𝖐𝖘𝖙𝖔𝖗𝖊 𝕷𝖔𝖛𝖊💜@book.ishnw_usedbooks is a charming bookstore, and vintage decor shop located on the Oregon Coast in Cloverdale. It's in an adorable purple house, and it offers a curated selection of books. The first thing we saw when we walked in was a beautiful, sweet cat on a purple settee. 😻 It has such a cozy vibe. Kaitlin found several books to take home.I also included some photos of the coast, because it's so beautiful. While we were in Cannon Beach we found an LFL #163425 that was set up by the family of Ursula K Le Guin. This library stands in honor of her abiding commitment to the world of books, her belief in the radical transformative power of the imagination and her love for this little town on the western shore where she wrote many of her books. Unfortunately, there were only a few books in poor condition on the shelves. This library should be full of her books, or other classics. When the house catches on fire, the family is forced to flee. After, they leave the house feels abandoned, and without a purpose. Eventually, it finds peace and rebirth in nature as animals and plants take shelter inside of it during a long winter.🐢Mabel and Merryglow: The Spark by @anne_montel & Loïc Clément Illus. @julien.arnal @postwave_books is a relatable story about childhood fears. Mabel is a tortoise who is terrified of the dark. When Merryglow, a kind firefly invites her for tea, they develop a beautiful friendship. He teaches her to face her anxiety, embrace the safety of her shell, and to no longer fear the dark.🇺🇲My American Blooms by @nazfordwrites Illus. @fateme_illustration @beamingbooksmn is a moving, hopeful story that is inspired by the author's own experience of immigration. A young girl and her family are forced to flee Iran. She brings her precious golnar petals from her garden with her. In America, they tend a local community garden, and it helps them build friendships and stability. They experience prejudice, and unkind words from some people. They learn to navigate the complexities of the immigrant experience, and ultimately they discover hope and community. Such an important book for little ones to read.✨️All of these books are beautifully illustrated, and will keep your young reader engaged. I left my second copy of Where The Heart Meets The Sea by Kimbra Drake @kimberly_engebrigtsen in this LFL that is surrounded by beautiful flowers. I also included a bookmark by @carlysunshinebooks So many yards are committed to earth-friendly gardening. The suburbs are heavily forested, and known for their massive tree canopies.🐳Little Leviathan - "This Moby-Dick themed library was launched on August 31st, 2021, nearly 170 years after the book was first published. It was initially stocked entirely with copies of Melville’s masterpiece. If you look closely, there is even a “doubloon” (an 1851 penny) nailed to the mast of the library. Now every year in celebration of "Moby Dick Day," November 14th, the library will be stocked entirely with editions of Moby Dick and possibly limited prints or related ephemera." How cool is that?🥾#210617 - Little Library on Belmont is located along the path to Mt. Tabor. I like the native plants on the roof, and the Happy Fortunes box. ☀️Unchartered - This library is located on NE 6th Ave. I like the bright color, and the book shelving paper.✨️We flew so we were only able to bring a small amount of books. He promises him popularity in exchange for the golden mace from The Persian Book of Kings. When he hands over the mace he accidentally kills the planet's sun, and plunges them into darkness. Rostam, and his new friend Zal embark on a dangerous adventure to save their world. This book is an interesting mix of sci-fi, fantasy, Persian mythology, and space. 🗡️The Incorruptibles: Lightmare by Lauren Magaziner - In the second book in the series, Fiona and her Thistle teammates are on the run, and are forced to live as outlaws after recent tragedies. While searching for a way to reverse the Dark Deals that turn humans into tyrannical sorcerers, they must face off against powerful magic-users and shocking team betrayals.Both of these books are perfect for summer reading. I love to share bilingual children's books in my LFL! The best time to learn languages is when their young. Rachel Kearney Kimbrow, the author of ABC Steam/Ctiam signed my book. She's also the owner of the bookstore. It is an ABC story celebrating science, technology, engineering, art and math with beautiful collage-style illustrations. 🧧𝓑𝓸𝓸𝓴 𝓡𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀 🧧Family Kisses by Caitlin Roeder @diverse_and_progressive books is a relatable, and much needed book about consent and bodily autonomy. The story follows Mei-Li who is excited about celebrating Chinese New Year! As she greets her extended family, she starts to feel uncomfortable with some of the ways they show affection, like scratchy hugs, excessive kisses and hair ruffling. Later, she confides in her grandmother about how she is feeling. The next day she wakes up looking forward to more celebrations, but also feeling a little nervous. She is happy to discover that her family is now showing affection in ways that make her feel safe and loved. They are respecting her personal boundaries by using bows, blowing kisses, and fist bumps. 🧨I love that the story explains how we can have mixed feelings about physical touch. It teaches kids to advocate for themselves, or confide in a loved one. The text is engaging and the illustrations by @kristenchowart bring the characters to life while highlighting some of the traditions of Chinese New Year. 🌞ₛᵢdₑwₐₗₖ ⱼₒy🦋Another highlight of our trip to Portland was visiting @happyalleypdx From their page: 😀"An alley to spark joy and happiness in the community." Mission accomplished! We loved the bright, bold, joyful artwork. There is a dog treat station, an LFL, mug and seed exchange, a roulette wheel, a hug here spot, and lots of fun activities.
