After losing Camilla, I've been feeling a massive empty space in the house. We've never known our house without her and I was struggling being in the kitchen and not seeing her little pen in the corner.
The night she was put to sleep, four new babies came in to work and needed looking after.
Initially, I didn't want to get involved. In some ways I felt like I was betraying Camilla's memory by trying to replace her. But after a day in work feeding and caring for them, it was a brilliant distraction. So, they came home with me.
These are the smallest babies I've looked after so far and seeing a new little pen in the house brings me real comfort.
Their names are still in the works and at first I was hesitant to post about them but they are my next chapter as a hand rearer, so here they are.
Two girls and two boys and a lot of broken sleep 😂
Nothing can ever replace Camilla but they're doing a great job in helping me heal ❤

I always thought there'd be many more updates on Camilla, but sadly this is the last one.
We always kept her in the knowledge that her health may be a problem, but it still came as a shock that this happened so soon.
Camilla was diagnosed with severe megacolon on Tuesday and we also found that her skeleton was abnormal. We're not sure what caused it but it's suspected that she had multiple issues and by fixing one, it wouldn't mean a good quality of life for her. With all the advice, we decided the kindest thing to do would be to put her to sleep before she suffered any more.
My heart is breaking. In just under 9 weeks, this tiny cat made a huge mark on our hearts and the hole she's left behind in the house is enormous.
She had the sweetest soul and was loved until the very end by us and her bestie Piper.
So for now, goodbye my Queen Camilla. I'll see you again one day x by @lformston

Camilla...
Ollie's first official failed foster 😂 we decided to keep her a while ago and it wasn't an easy choice. As cute as she is, it seems like her habits are also a bit backwards and she's a lot more work than the average kitten. All that aside, she fits in really well and with all she's put me through, trusting someone else with her was something I wasn't about to do, so stuff it.

My Spider and Squid have flown the nest! They were dropped off to their new home with a lovely family last week and are there to stay.
I bawled my eyes out for about six hours after they went but it was all worth it, they turned out to be smashing cats 😂 now for a break from hand rearing for a bit. Moving house, planning a wedding and looking after Camilla is more than enough for now, so we'll see what the next kitten season brings 🐱
