Even saw the lights! 🎈 ——— For being in the Chicago area where the Goodyear Blimp shows up all the time, I had never seen one before until AirVenture! Wingfoot One, registered N1A, is one of four Goodyear blimps operating around the world, with two more in the U.S. and one in Europe. Wingfoot One is a Zeppelin-style semi-rigid airship and based in Suffield, Ohio. I love how these photos turned out. While brightly-lit photos are my specialty as a student photographer, the dramatic effect the clouds gave made these shots really fun to work with. I have plenty of photos of the blimp from my trip up to Oshkosh, but I decided on these four for a bit of variety in the blimp’s orientation as well as in background. ——— Wittman Regional Airport | 25-26 July 2026 Zeppelin NT N07 N1A 12.5 years @eaa @goodyear @goodyearblimp @wittmanairportkosh #airplane #aviation #goodyearblimp #photo #photography by @lfpspots_
F-22 heritage flights 🦅 ——— After some weeks of debating which of my 3000 photos from AirVenture I should post first, I decided I really liked how the photos of this Raptor came out. There’s so many cool planes that come out to Oshkosh every year, so there will probably be a lot of photos from there for the next little while! These photos were taken on the Friday air show during the F-16 Viper demo and subsequent heritage flight, but when the F-22 flies in a performance, it really steals the show. The F-22, operated by the USAF Raptor demo team, is based in Joint Base Langley-Eustis, formerly Langley AFB, in Virginia; the F-16, operated by the USAF Viper demo team, is based at Shaw AFB in South Carolina. As for the P-51, which operates with the Air Force Heritage Flight foundation, I couldn’t find any information that I could be sure about. ——— EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026 | Wittman Regional Airport | 24 July 2026 @airforceheritageflight @eaa @f22demoteam @viperdemoteam @wittmanairportkosh #airplane #airventure #aviation #f22 #photography by @lfpspots_
Regional jet sunset 🌅 ——— Okay, so this isn’t a sunset, it’s a sunrise, but the colours are the same, so it works for me! This Embraer 175, painted in the old Continental-style livery, flew into ORD on the morning of June 27. The aircraft, N167SY, is a 2016-built Embraer E175LR operated by SkyWest Airlines under the United Express brand. I had to dig deep into my files for this one. After being heavily biased towards cool airlines and widebodies (and CRJs), I decided it was time to give the Embraers some love. The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer actually makes some pretty cool aircraft… just not the CRJ 🤷 ——— Chicago O’Hare International Airport | 27 July 2026 Embraer E175LR N167SY 🇺🇸 9.6 years @embraer @fly2ohare @skywestairlines @united #airplane #aviation #photo #photography #planespotting by @lfpspots_
Under dreamy skies 🇮🇪 ——— This Airbus A330 of the Irish flag carrier arrived at O’Hare on the afternoon of 30 May. Aer Lingus operates twice-daily service to Chicago using its A330 fleet. The aircraft, registered EI-FNH, is an Airbus A330-302 delivered to Aer Lingus in late September 2016. The aircraft is named after the Irish saint Lorcán Ua Tuathail (Laurence O’Toole in English), who played a role in the Irish Church Reform Movement and mediated between the Gaelic tribes and Anglo-Norman invaders in Ireland during the late 12th century. My unpopular opinion is that this Aer Lingus livery looks better than the old all-green livery. I don’t think there’s any problem with the standard white fuselage, coloured-tail liveries found on most airlines these days (take United, Delta, ANA, Lufthansa, Air France, etc), and the colours of Aer Lingus’ branding really fits the basic design. The turquoise they use looks really good! ——— Chicago O’Hare International Airport | 30 May 2026 Airbus A330-302 EI-FNH 🇮🇪 9.7 years @aerlingus @airbus @fly2ohare #airplane #aviation #ireland #photo #photography by @lfpspots_
Synchronizing the world of commerce 📦✈️ ——— Both of these early twin-engine widebodies operated at O’Hare on the morning of June 27. The first, 165UP, was landing at Chicago that morning; it was delivered to UPS in 2005. The second, N129UP, departed ORD a bit later. The aircraft itself arrived at UPS in 2001. After giving up on tons of aircraft that didn’t work under the 7 AM clouds, I decided that these old jets didn’t look too bad! Having seen tons of A330s all over, the A300 looks unique to me appearing more like a shorter 330 instead of its predecessor. I find it hard to believe that some A300s still operate scheduled passenger service in Iran considering their age, even knowing how sanctioned the country is… ——— Chicago O’Hare International Airport | 27 July 2026 (1) Airbus A300F4-600 N165UP 21.3 years (2) Airbus A300F4-600 N129UP 25.5 years @airbus @fly2ohare @ups #airplane #aviation #photo #photography #planespotting by @lfpspots_
The friendly blue skies 🌐✈️ ——— This beautiful Continental livery 787 was built at Boeing’s production site in Charleston, South Carolina, and delivered to United Airlines in January 2014. The aircraft’s seating layout was reconfigured just before the pandemic. The gold cheatline that runs down the middle of the livery is wavy on all Boeing 787s and some Boeing 737s that have not been painted into the Evo Blue livery, in contrast to the straight line that divides the white and grey parts of the livery on the 777 and most narrow-bodies with this livery. I actually prefer this wavy line a lot more than the straight one! It partially inspired the wavy blue line that exists on United’s modern Evo Blue livery. I captured this aircraft as well as the United 767 from two weeks ago while going to a McDonald’s by O’Hare airport on June 13. I hadn’t even intended to take photos there, but I discovered upon parking at the restaurant that there was actually pretty high potential for photos! ——— Chicago O’Hare International Airport | 13 July 2026 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner N26909 🇺🇸 12.4 years @boeing @fly2ohare @staralliance @united #airplane #aviation #photo #photography #planespotting by @lfpspots_
Can you see your reflection? 🪞 ——— This privately owned Gulfstream 450 became airworthy in January 2011, earning the registration N847RC, which it continues to use today. I spotted this aircraft on Saturday morning on the ramp at Waukegan National Airport, just south of the Wisconsin border, while waiting for one of many free flights I have taken with @eaa ‘s Young Eagles program. My Citation photo from two weeks ago was also captured here. When I was editing the first photo featured on this post, I noticed an interesting resemblance to my first ever photo featured on this page — they face the same direction, have some grass and buildings in the background, the sky was edited similarly, even the wing is clipped in the same place. That first post happens to be a year old next Wednesday, so I might have a commemorative post up then. ——— Waukegan National Airport | 27 July 2026 Gulfstream GIV-X (G450) N847RC 🇺🇸 15.4 years @cityofwaukegan @gulfstreamaero @sterlingaviationservices @waukeganairport #airplane #aviation #photo #photography #privatejet by @lfpspots_
An Etihad 787 arrives at O’Hare in beautiful early morning lighting! 🇦🇪 ——— This particular 787-9 is fairly new, having been built at Boeing’s factory in Charleston, South Carolina, and delivered to Etihad in just September of last year. After going spotting on Saturday morning, I wanted to post this aircraft first. A fellow aviation enthusiast commented on my Air Canada A220 post from September of last year asking for me to catch a particular Etihad flight (sorry I’m ten months late 😅 hope this works for you still!) Additionally, this is my first time ever seeing an Etihad jet in action! ——— Chicago O’Hare International Airport | 27 July 2026 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner A6-BNK 🇦🇪 0.8 years @aviation.sa7 (aforementioned aviation enthusiast) @boeing @etihad @fly2ohare #airplane #aviation #morning #photo #photography by @lfpspots_
