Diving right in to one of my latest @aardvarkbookclub picks for December! 💛 Most of my reading is done during my commute to work on the subway so I typically take off the dust jackets of my hardcovers to avoid messing them up too much in the melee of crowds. 😵‍💫 Wasn’t expecting her to be so bright chartreusey! So pretty! 😍 So far this book is about as unhinged as I was expecting…and then some. 😅 Are you a dust jacket on or off kinda person? 🤷🏻‍♀️ taken in New York, New York by @lgc.reads

Tomorrow this lil brand new booksta turns a week old, so no better time than the present to formally introduce myself. 👀😂 I’m LeAnna. I live in NYC. 🗽 I’m 38 years old have been a book nerd basically my whole life. Most days, when not at my 9-5 corporate job, you’ll find me a) at a coffee shop with a book, b) at home listening to music with a book, or c) at an indie bookshop browsing for more books to add to Mount TBR that I fear will never be scaled. 🫣 I read a bit of everything - I’m definitely a mood reader. But I tend to circle back to thrillers & horrors more often that not. I am trying to work in more nonfiction reads to challenge, teach, & inspire my brain…but sometimes you just need a captivating popcorn read, you know? 🍿 I’m part of several online book clubs - mostly through Litsy (you can find me as Melismatic on that app!) & one in person as well. My usual goal is 100 books a year - although I’ve only accomplished this three times in my life. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Welcome officially to my corner of IG! I’m here to make friends, talk books, get inspired, and hopefully pass along fun stories. 👋🏻 Don’t be shy — let’s be friends! #bookish #tbr #nowreading #booksbooksbooks taken in New York, New York by @lgc.reads

💅📖 SO - your girl just passed the 1K followers threshold!! This means a lot to me because it was a goal I had set for myself to accomplish in a year on Bookstagram - and yall crushed it with months to go before my anniversary. 🥺 All the more reason to give a lil shoutie to some of the folks who’ve been so lovely, supportive, and whose feeds are examples I’m striving for! 🥰 This community can be such a cute place! I’m grateful for the friendship AND the book recs! Follow these fantastic humans!! 💖💅👀 @imagensbookishdiary @acesofash @cozychapterlauren @ashhdreaux @awitchandherbook @upstatebookbitch @reads_with_k.rose @courtneyyallreads @ysaleftyouonread Thank you, thank you *everyone* for the kindness. 💖 taken in Book Club by @lgc.reads

After a long stretch spent plowing through my @netgalley queue, it feels so nice to be back to physical copies! 🥺💅 I’m only a few chapters in but I’m already loving @tananarivedue and her supreme talent for world building. 🎥🎞️ Magnetic bookmark: @lavendermoondesigns.co @sagapressbooks @simonandschuster . . So rare that I read three ARC’s with the same release date! 😅 I’ve officially finished all of my @netgalley commitments for the year! 💪🏻 🙀 Look What the Cat Dragged In - @jasonrekulak So much fun! It’s wild to say this was basically Rosemary’s Baby meets Garfield comics but… 😂 this is peak Goosebumps for Grownups in the best way. Perfect for October! 4⭐️ 🌿 Monstera - @delilahsdawson A quick-paced horrormance(?) novella full of sapphic yearning and feminine rage. If you love Jennifer’s Body, this was meant for you! 3⭐️ 🚐 Off the Reservation - @stephengrahamjones A road trip with Nate Yellow Tail is…eventful. Think hallucinations, demonic(?) possessions, and a lot of jerky & ICEE cups. 3.5⭐️ . . 📖 Are any of these on your TBR? . . 🕸️👹🎃 Last night, I finally had the chance to stop in to @twistedspinebooks indie horror bookstore in Williamsburg, Brooklyn - and the vibes were *immaculate* So many curated shelves of books about things that go bump in the night! They even had signed editions from some of my favorite authors and a little section dedicated to NYC authors! 🥰 Toward the back of the store, there’s a cafe bar where you can order coffee, wine, and cocktails. I grabbed an iced butterscotch latte that came in this gorgeous skull glass. 💀 They were hosting a panel discussion about the new horror anthology from @primerosuenopress “Something Followed Us Home” - featuring all Latine writers! Such an excellent way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! 🫣🎃 I’m going to read one or two stories a night this month… Some of the authors were there to talk about their stories and sign copies. Everyone was so charming and warm! Such a fun night! @cynthiapelayoauthor @leopoldoleopoldo @alexsegurajr @anandalima . . .
