My latest piece: ‘Process of Acceleration’After researching about Grenoble, I created a piece speaking about the technological and environmentally focused innovation hub that Grenoble has become. How the geographic setting of Grenoble amid the mountains and rushing rivers, allowed for the advancement in early Hydrological energy and how that energy source paved the way for much greater advancements in science and technology today. The figures become an allegory for the technological advancements of humans through history, pulling the water from the neighboring rivers and harnessing energy into innovation throughout time. At the top of the wall sits an architectural drawing of a particle accelerator, The ESRF: European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, which is in Grenoble. This stands for the current height of human technological advancement where particles are accelerated at the speed of light to create powerful x-rays and used to examine matter on a molecular level. A pursuit in understanding the world around us is crucial to create change, but how this knowledge is used and what change is created is the constant friction of civilization, an aspect emulated within the expressions of the figures.Hidden within the work there is a tiny fragment from ESRF, the longest beam line from the drawing is the actual research station, ID21 of a scientist I met on my visit to the ESRF, Marine Cotte. Marine uses the powerful beams created from particle acceleration to study the degradation process of paint on artworks. She had a great idea to give me two yellow samples from her study of Van Gough’s famous “Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers” which were then embedded into the mural, furthering a connection to the site and the two-way road of artwork investigating scientific pursuits and scientific pursuits investigating art. After a competitive open call run on Monochronicle, we are proud to announce three finalists for the P.K. Yonge Gymnasium at the University of Florida. The 33-acre natural campus has a deep commitment to wellness, healthy living, and environmental stewardship. The selected artwork will live inside the new gymnasium — a space for energy, gathering, and renewal. The client was looking for work that integrates natural elements, light, movement, or biophilic design principles in ways that feel genuinely of this place.Aaron Li-Hill @li_hill (Brooklyn / London)Aaron’s figures exist in suspended motion — caught between action and stillness. With 1 week to go until we open the doors of FACE 2 FACE and connect with you all in real life we still have some incredible artists to announce! We know right, how could this show get any more impressive!!We are honoured to welcome the super talented @li_hill to the exhibition. With his piece Mortal Coil that will blow minds and ensure we are picking up jaws off the floor all evening! Aaron is an American/ Canadian transdisciplinary artist currently based around the corner from Laundry Studios in east London. His work draws connections between multiple fields such as graffiti, Mexican mural painting, classical figuration, Chinese calligraphy, and assemblage theory. He employs painting, stenciling, and sculptural elements within his art and in doing so, he creates cultural and aesthetic connections between disparate visual signifiers.His current body of work utilizes arrested motion through multiple exposure photography and traditional painting methods to address and disentangle issues of identity, crisis, and the complexity of narrative voice.Have you signed up yet? With all the Snow hitting my friends and fam in the US and Canada, I thought I’d share this gem drone footage by my friend @pixelatedstreets .•‘What is Here’ with the @buffaloakgartmuseum and photo references from @yungpainkiller in Buffalo, NY•Everything going on in the US and globally is beyond terrifying. Even though it petrifies, this reminds me that it’s the people around you and the bonds that hold us together that are greater than the things that seperate us, your community makes this thing we call life possible, stand up for them, be there for them.
