Not boarding that plane at eighteen
Walking down that aisle in a satin white dress
A broken girl playing dress up
I regret nothing.
Not growing those babies in my belly
Tracing their tiny fingers and toes
Kissing their boo-boo’s
Heart aching watching them grow, knowing
I am not playing house any longer
I regret nothing.
Not howling at the moon alive and wild
Music pulsing from the earth through me
Nature’s medicine finally unlocking doors
My mind had bolted shut for decades
Walking down that aisle, again
A testament to my heart’s relentless
Pursuit of love
I regret nothing.
But I grieve every day.
My grief washes over me
An ocean. A baptism
And moves through me
So I am born again.
