Swipe for the frontal view❗️

They say “it’s the boy, not the toy” that makes you great. And while we believe that to be true most of the time, our @imfroasters machine continues to blow us away in the way it can roast and develop coffees.

In general terms it’s an air roaster. But the key difference amongst fellow air roasters is that it has a perforated drum, which allows for an efficient and unique heat transfer into the coffee. Resulting in exactly what we are looking to deliver — clean and sweet coffees but with a very jammy acidity that is never dry. Once you’ve tasted it, you’ll see what we mean. taken in Dallas County by @liaise.coffees

UGANDA - Imbalu Natural

Tasting Notes: Balsamic Glaze, Lemon Bar, Almond Pastry

Natural processed coffees in Uganda are a bit more of a standard or cultural practice for the origin and are classified with a commercial moniker of “Drugar” (Dried Uganda Arabica) which are often reminiscent of more mild Brazil naturals. When done really well however, like this selection is, they can carry much more heft and complexity, far than anything mild.

Norman Mukuru is every bit of a local coffee savant. He’s been in the trade a long while and we’ve actually crossed paths with him in years past when buying there. Fast forward to now, he’s very much earned the deserved credit of this coffee’s beauty that is produced in the foothills of Mt Elgon in eastern Uganda. And when you are there it feels as if you’re in one of the more lush places on the planet. It’s right on the equator, making for excellent coffee growing conditions, but also very difficult for meticulous processing like Norman has done here. In it, we taste loads of purple fruit, sweet balsamic vinegar reduction, almond pastry and lemon zest.

Location: Mt Elgon, Mbale District
Process: Slow Dry Natural Process

TASTE WHAT YOU DRINK

In other words, don’t miss out on what you’re sipping on. This washed coffee from Ethiopia is oh so sweet. But it’s real. We’re not adding flavors, we’re highlighting beauty that already exists.

🍊🍊🍊

Also the math checks out. A 5 pound bag gives you 125 x 18g doses on espresso or for your batch brew. Always free shipping. by @liaise.coffees

SUMMER HOLIDAY
Liaise HQ - Closed
No Public Cupping this Friday - Come slurp next week!

As the summer winds down, we hope your cups are as full as your mugs. The heat is still bearing down on us in Texas (100°F/37°C) but I‘ll always prefer hot coffee to wake up with.

This week we’ve been “closed” to take some time off before the fall cranks up. But don’t you worry, all orders and subscriptions have been shipped.

It’s a practice we hope to keep going for the long haul - to enjoy time away and push on the tension of working to live, not living to work. We’re grateful for all you customers who support us in it, especially our b2b partners!

And if you’re one of those b2b wholesale partners you’ve likely seen our big news this week as we launched a fresh wholesale portal. We’re excited about the direction of it and all that’s to come for those who trust us to supply their coffee week in, week out.

Fresh Arrivals from Ethiopia are alive! ✨

These Ethiopian lots were sourced through close partners that have some of the deepest experience sourcing coffee in Ethiopia, evidenced by the quality of the coffee and how quickly it is delivered from origin to our HQ.

This is a washed coffee from Yukro that was harvested in January 2026 in the western area of Ethiopia in Jimma. Agaro coffees, like some others in Ethiopia, open up over time and develop more and more flavor. Right now it has a crispness that is sweet, and delicate with a juice like nature to them that is so refreshing, perfect for the summer. And it’s only going to get better with time.

This natural process expresses itself the way we prefer, reflective of place. Where it was grown, cultivated and harvested. A lot of processes today are overtly more about the process than the place or culture or people that produced it. So with this one, we celebrate it - a cup ripe with sweet dark red fruit, strawberry cake donut, and held together with a sparkling, bright limeade acidity.

Ethiopia’s Sidamo region is one of the best known coffee producing regions in the world. Like the rest of Ethiopia, it’s divided into several woredas (districts) and kebeles (communities) with washing stations throughout—each offering unique terroir. by @liaise.coffees

What is ‘Farm Team’?

We’ve just put out a fresh blog post.

There is a lot of thought behind our Farm Team line, and the goals and intentions behind it. But we realize that we haven’t gone into it beyond the brief descriptions on our website.

Jake took a minute and put words to all of the things that Farm Team was built to do, and we’re excited to share some of the brains behind what really are some of our most important coffees.

Swipe right, but read the full blog on our website.
Link in bio.

My entry into the coffee industry didn’t begin in a cafe behind an espresso machine. After a brief stint helping with a roaster start up in college, I kinda entered backwards, or maybe forwards. It began by working at the beginning of the supply chain from the ground up.

Farm Team is our effort at being solution-minded for all involved. Liaise Coffees is roasting the finest coffees for everybody - Which includes the farmers, producers, and exporters that we couldn’t get these coffees without. by @liaise.coffees

STAY STOCKED with a five pounder.

A 5 lb bag will give you roughly 125 brewed cups of coffee. A perfect fit for the multi-cup-a-day slugger.

•••

And while I’m here, meet BRUTE from the Farm Team lineup. Our set of three darker roasted classics.

Brute is dense and strong, as the name implies. Our dark roast is as it should be.

Some may think that all dark roasts taste the same, but this one stands out among the rest. It has a depth and sturdiness that will keep you coming back, without being burnt to a crisp.
