As someone who grew up and is still somewhat apolitical, visiting the cu chi tunnels here in Vietnam was a truly eye opening experience.
I guess even being able to be “apolitical” is a luxury most of the world doesn’t have. Seeing and experiencing ( I put that very lightly ) first hand the effects of war did shift my mindset, and I hope it can continue to do so. Witnessing elderly Vietnamese still working everyday and creating these incredible pieces of art even though they live through the effects of agent orange to this day, put things into perspective for me and the fortune I have of growing up in Australia. It was a day that made me realise I can’t be so naive to what is happening in the current day world, and to not take things for granted. taken in Cu Chi Tunnels by @liam.iwamon
