Too often, we sing songs like “Here I Am to Worship” out of routine rather than genuine reflection. When the lyrics finally break through our defenses, tears follow, not just from emotion, but from the raw realization of where our hearts actually stand. We come to Him as sinners, yet surrender meets immediate grace. When our own strength runs out, His takes over. Never hesitate to bring your unfiltered self to God. 10 years ago, a boy arrived in the United States, a boy that didn’t understand English, a boy that didn’t understand why there was so much suffering and pain. A boy that didn’t have a dream because he didn’t think he could make it far enough for that to happen. A boy who would do everything he could to make sure he could live through the day without pain and hunger. Life was about self-preservation.

But what happened to him during the past 10 years? That boy has received a family with loving parents and siblings. That boy has learned English. He has received education that he didn’t think he was smart enough for. He has friends he can call and talk to about anything. What’s most important, he received the grace of God to become His child. A gift that he didn’t deserve but received anyways.

That boy has lived a life of grace upon grace. A life he couldn’t possibly think he could have. What a God.

So who am I? I am a child of God. My identity is found in Him. And I hope and pray that His grace will come upon you too and experience a life of freedom. Enjoy some of my youngest pictures I have of myself. by @liam_j_ph

Just some thoughts—read on if you’d like.

I finished my four-hour final a few hours ago, and it felt so good to finally be done with case analyses for a while. This semester had its share of fun moments and stressful ones. There are a lot of decisions I need to make, and honestly, I can only rely on Jesus for the next steps.

A friend told me something that really stuck with me: if I say “God will take care of it” but I’m not actually trusting Him with the next step, then am I really trusting Him at all? That made me think a lot more about what’s ahead. Am I taking the next step out of obedience and inviting Jesus into it with me?

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.”
