Wrapping up the ‘coastal tigers’ series during my final few weeks in St Ives. The time has come to move on and return to the north.

It’s been a really great year and a half living by the coast in such a beautiful little town, I’ve seen an evolution in my work and the way I work which I don’t think would have happened if I didn’t make this move. However, there’s so much I’ve missed living so isolated from the rest of the country and it’s time to return home to Leeds. I’ve just got a new studio space there and will be making the move in a few weeks. I’m feeling very positive about the next chapter and what it will bring for my paintings.

I’ll also be returning to tattooing a little more, mainly between Leeds and London on a monthly basis. Also as I’ll now be living somewhere with an airport again, I can finally do some European trips as well. I will definitely visit Amsterdam Stockholm and Oslo as soon as I can, and hopefully some other cities too.

Currently working on issue 2 of ‘I don’t want a pickle, just want to ride on my motorcycle.’ This time round I’m going to try put together a short film as well, added a couple clips to this set of images from issue one, apart from the first shot of Harry’s Shovelhead, that’s for issue 2.

So happy I got to tattoo this new one from my flash book on day 1 at the Tatt Shack. Thanks to everyone who rolled through yesterday was a great day, I’m here for a few more days, fully booked but come by the shop if you want to browse my flash books and get booked in for my next Leeds trip.

Some Japanese style tattoos from over the years. I’d really love to tattoo more of this stuff. Got tons of frogs, yokai, masks etc in my flash books which would make solid individual tattoos, or if you’re thinking larger scale, I’d love the opportunity to do some new sleeves, been a long time since I’ve had anyone come through for a large project.

‘Coastal Tigers.’ A new series of tiger paintings which I’m currently working on. Tigers have always been one of my favourite subjects to paint, especially on a large scale. And for this series I just wanted to have fun, paint what I want to paint, because I like it, and that’s enough of a reason.

This new series takes inspiration from life by the Atlantic Ocean and the coastal paths which I walk daily.
I’d subconsciously be shifting my colour palette over the past year and recently through getting back into photography have realised that the palettes which I seem to be using more and more at the minute are so similar to what I’m looking at every day when walking the coastal paths around St Ives.

I have an exhibition of these paintings at Porthmeor studios in St Ives this November. There will be 8 new canvases plus a few new surfboards in collaboration with Olero Surfboards, like this 6’6 twin fin on the left which has been hand shaped and ready for paint this week.

8 new big cat designs across 2 12 x 16” hand painted flash sheets. All the designs have been added to my flash book and are ready to be tattooed.
Over the next few months I’m at Frith Street Tattoo, London. Swallow Tattoo, Bristol. And The Tatt Shack, Leeds.

Selection plate of black and grey tattoos, designs all picked out of my flash books on the day. Now the question of how can you get tattooed?
I’ve still not settled anywhere, currently still living in St Ives focusing on painting and working on an art exhibition which I have here in November.

However, I’m driving around the country fairly regularly and over the coming months I’m going to be in Bristol a lot at Swallow Tattoo. I’m also back at The Tatt Shack in Leeds October 1,2,3. That’s already fully booked but if you’re up north and want to get something let me know and I’ll look into adding some more dates or planning a trip the following month. And then of course it’s time for me to start visiting London more regularly again and spend some time back at Frith Street! I’m there October, November and December.

If you’d like to come get tattooed message me, let me know where you’d like your appointment and which month, preferred dates etc. And what tattoo you’re thinking of getting, placement, size etc…

Im looking at visiting Stockholm and Amsterdam also in October / November. If you’re interested in getting something in either of those cities let me know.

SOLD
‘Cats & Dogs, with ceramics.’ A recent commission project which I wrapped up this week.
2 cats. 2 dogs. 4 canvases which measure 39 x 42cm each. They can be hung as a square, in a straight line, or individually. I purposely painted them so a few different options are possible and had some fun at the end making this stop motion animation in the studio.
