Here's a #wontlookwednesday from us for your feed! 👀

We've been loving the freedom of going to different trails lately. Once our foundations were in a pretty good spot, I felt Libby was comfortable enough and I had the skills to manage any possible triggers or feelings that may arise while we are out. So far, so good! I made it a goal that we were going to have lots of fun and do more exploring this year. A camping trip is even in the works! (May be glamping, not sure yet!)

All in all, I haven't had to think too hard about where we can go to be able to relax, because she's able to do so more easily and quickly most everywhere we go now! Life is so much easier for us. Well, her 🤪 I'm in school and working and working on my business and so on! But it does take the edge off knowing she will choose me over her environment (most of the time) 😁

A lovely evening by the creek! Didn't actually go swimming, but got a few great photos of all the greens.

Is your pup up to date on their Leptospirosis vaccine? If not, reconsider going swimming if the water is not flowing and has algae sitting on top. I don't like swimming in water that isn't fresh and flowing so I don't feel comfortable with allowing Libby to either!

Do you have a go-to water spot? 💧

Never too late for an obligatory Dalmatian and fire hydrant picture 😁

We've started extending our walks, which means I don't have to drive to one of our locations anymore! 🎉 Hopefully we'll be walking all the way to our neighborhood park soon! 🌳

Slow is fast, and with Libby's (mild) reactivity, I have been setting her up for success by finding low distraction areas and keeping her under threshold so we can make progress with reducing her reactive moments (fixating, laying down going deadweight until trigger is close enough to lunge at) and tipping the scales to neutrality. It varies depending on where we're at, but sometimes it's excitement, and sometimes it's nervousness. Overall, I want her to be confident that she can look to me for direction.

We've made lots of progress and now we can push just a little bit more.

Happy #tongueouttuesday!!

New year means new adventures, new goals, and new firsts! I can happily say we have hit our goal of having a loose leash on walks! It's only taken months and months of training and cleaning up, but we've made it! ☺ This year our main goal is off-leash adventures (in designated off leash areas, respect leash laws y'all), which means making more opportunities for more reinforcement!

I'm so proud of the progress we've made in so many areas and the bond between Libby and I. She is the absolute sweetest, happiest, cutest gem I know. This year is gonna be more enriching for the both of us 💖
