We are getting back to the basics; back to nature. We are creating a foundation for our success. We welcome you along this journey.

Help us envision the next 50 years…

For more than 50 years, the DuBois Learning Center has been a place where generations have come to learn, teach, serve, lead, and belong.

Now we’re asking our community: What could the next 50 years look like?

When students from @rockhursths joined us in service a few weeks ago, Alan Ratermann, Director of Ignatian Service, spoke about the endless possibilities he saw in the grounds surrounding the DLC.

We see them too.

In partnership with @liberatedgrounds and Rockhurst High School, we’re beginning to reimagine how these grounds can become an extension of the learning that has happened inside the Center for generations — through outdoor classrooms, gardens and growing spaces, art and culture, gathering and performance spaces, and opportunities that bring art, agriculture, and technology together.

But we don’t want to design it for community. We want to build it with community.

On Saturday, September 26 from 2–4 PM, Learning Launch Day will include a community solution session to begin envisioning what comes next.

We’re calling on our supporters, alumni, NPHC organizations, educators, artists, growers, architects, designers, builders, neighborhood and civic leaders, businesses, institutions, funders, families, and community partners to come be part of it.

Come walk the grounds.

Bring your ideas. Bring your history. Bring your expertise. Bring someone who should be in the room. Connect us to resources. Identify where you or your organization can volunteer, partner, sponsor, or help turn possibility into infrastructure.

Come ready to imagine and build with us.

September 26 | 2–4 PM

50 years gave us the foundation. Now help us envision the next 50 with the MOMENTUM that has paved the way!

Community grows where we show up for one another.

Students from Rockhurst High School joined the DuBois Learning Center and Liberated Grounds for a day of service on the land—bringing together education, agriculture, youth leadership, and community care.

The day was a reminder that partnership doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it begins with shared work, willing hands, and a commitment to leave a place better than we found it.

Together, we are creating opportunities for young people to learn through service, connect across communities, and experience what it means to contribute to something larger than themselves.

And the circle can keep growing.

Schools, businesses, organizations, families, and neighbors are invited to find their place in the work.

More hands. More relationships. More community. More possibility. 🌱

Interested in joining a future community service day or partnership? Comment “Grow 🌱” and come grow with us.

About Liberated Grounds: It is a very simple thing. We are the site of our own liberation. In fact, once we set ourselves free it is our collective efforts to create freedom opportunities for our community. We found freedom on the land, through our creative art, and we are using technology to tell our stories.

We are well here. Tap in!

Hey! Today is our 4 year celebration!

On July 8, 2022 the ink signed the dotted line bringing Liberated Grounds into form. On this day, 4 years later, we are creating national impact — one conversation at a time. Today, we are in St. Louis with our partners as we continue navigating how to expand our work and efforts.

It is well.
