🎥 From the #TheLab with Tap Dance Project Choreographer, Liberty Styles @libertystyles

“I think dancing liberates us on a molecular level, and I think it’s also so deeply personal and so deeply social at the same time. There’s so much potential for it to heal us. I choreograph because I want to see the music that I’m making in my room exploded into a universe that brings people together.” - Liberty Styles

ADVENTURES IN SUCCESS was a total, um, success!
// possibly the best night ever??

Bringing tap dancers and drag artists together in the gayest way possible…. what a dream! And bringing my drag character @jolt.nyc into a world with so many people I love from so many backgrounds was so healing and liberating 💗 thank you to all the performers who left lotsa glitter and no crumbs on the stage, thank you to everyone who showed up (we SOLD that shit out!) and thank you to the best host we could have asked for in @theydy.bedbug 🪲💚

Couldn’t have done it without my co-producer @ellaa_lang (aka @lucechaaange) and promo/design by @veryluckiii 💗

Also big shoutout to @sleepwalk.nyc for hosting us!! As well as our photographer @uniquebadboyofficial and our show kitten @kelli4nication !!

Can’t wait until next time 😈😈

We had fun getting together as a company with Liberty Styles to experiment with some ideas for a new performance piece! ✨

More to come soon, but for now, here’s a little peek at what came out of our time together… 👀 taken in Liverpool, UK by @libertystyles

⚡️⚡️⚡️ SAVE THE DATE ~ Friday 18th September @handymanbrewery. Liberty Styles is back! 🤩

We’re thrilled to be bringing Liberty back to Liverpool for a workshop from 18.30 followed by a tap jam with live music from Sole Rebel’s in‑house band from 19.30.

Liberty Styles (they/them) is a tap dancer, electronic musician and performer based in NYC. Satire, collaged sound, drag and rhythmic improvisation sit at the centre of their practice. Their research connects tap dance with queer performance histories, nightlife and experimental sound as spaces of memory, mischief, survival and futurity.
They produce and perform in sold‑out tap‑drag events, toured the UK as a tap soloist with BBC Jazz Musician of the Year Xhosa Cole and feature on his 2025 album On a Modern Genius Vol. 1. Liberty performs regularly across the UK and Europe with artists including Edi May and electronic duo Zyggurat and has appeared in Ayodele Casel’s Diary of a Tap Dancer at the American Repertory Theater. Their stage credits include the Guggenheim, New York Live Arts, The Joyce Theater and the Apollo Theater, with mentions in The New York Times, Jazzwise and Billboard.
This is going to be a great evening, so put the date in your diaries 👀💖 taken in Handyman Pub by @libertystyles
