Mini reviews!! I haven’t done one of these in a while and I feel like I’m in a good reading flow so this was a good opportunity 🤸‍♀️

-The Correspondent 5⭐️
One of the most charming books I’ve ever listened to. I loved the writing style and the full cast for the audio made for an immersive listening experience. This book made me think a lot of about my decisions as a daughter and also made me think of my parents and their age, their decisions, and all that comes with growing old. Sobbed a lot 🥹

-The Someday Garden 3.5⭐️
This one was hard because I’m such an Ashley Poston girlie. The concept, the story, the romance were SOOO up my alley, but in the page it felt like it wasn’t balanced and the romance ended up falling short. It’s definitely very cute and the magical elements are so charming!

- Muñeca 3.5 ⭐️
This isn’t a genre a usually read, but I’m in the mood for horror so this latinx, queer witchy horror was exactly what I needed! It’s creepy, it has moments that made my skin crawl. Reminded me a little of Silvia Moreno Garcia! It does have elements that I don’t necessarily love, like power imbalances between the MCs, but it works within the story. It’s a super short read and a really fun debut.

-Remarkably Bright Creatures 3.5 ⭐️
I might get flamed for this, but GODDAMN how did you guys tolerate Cameron? Biggest cry baby holyyyyy, he genuinely made this go down 1.5 stars … the book also needed more Marcellus and less Cameron.

Review of Into The Blue by Emma Brodie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m seriously in love with this book, one of my favorite books of the year by far! I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I read it last month.

This is a messy, fucked, and beautiful up love story. It does such a great job in displaying all the ugly parts that come with being human and being in love. I was laughing, crying, getting mad, and going through every single emotion thanks to AJ and Noah.

One of my favorite things about this is book is how it’s basically a giant love letter to fandoms and different art media🥹 it mixes fan fiction, scifi, comedy, improv, acting, and my beloved SNL. The comedy and improv aspect was probably my favorite, I thought it gave this book a unique focus.

Our Perfect Storm by Carley Fortune ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don’t understand how she did it but this is Carley Fortune’s best one 🌊💜

It’s fiery, passionate, and stormy. George and Frankie are a perfect mix of carefulness and daring. There’s so much tension between! So much they say to each other without saying anything at all, Carley did such a good job with actions that I felt I was going a little bit crazy in the best way.

This is truly Frankie’s journey into figuring out herself after one of the most soul crushing events of her life and every single decision that brought her there. I think it was a perfect example of reaching your 30s.

I’ve always loved how Carley’s honest and true love for Canada shines in every single one of her books, but this one was spectacular. You can tell how much love, research and respect went into crafting this book. I finished reading it and it left me feeling inspired.

I absolutely loved George and Frankie’s story; their present, their past and whatever comes next for them 💜
