Utah book crawl: book shopping expectations vs reality ✨
I swear I can do math! And yes, we did dramatically underestimate how many books we’d buy (I may have been extra dramatic in my underestimation…). Haul coming soon!! taken in BOOKSTA by @librariesandcoffee

I’ve been wanting to do this trend since I saw the tweet!
🌞Sun - Aquarius (and let me tell yall, it’s accurate). Picking just one favorite book is nearly impossible BUT Paladin’s Grace is truly one of my favorites. I debated putting Weavingshaw here but I’ve recommended that so many times already (still, yall should read it).
🌘Moon- Pisces aka a book that made me cry. I LOVED Imogen, Obviously! As someone that came out in college, I cried for younger me when I read this book as an adult. If I’d had something like this when I was a teenager, I think I would’ve figured my shit out a little sooner. Either way, this was fantastic and such a good read.
🌅Rising- Capricorn aka a book I always recommend: Carmilla. Always. (followed by Weavingshaw and ANYTHING T. Kingfisher writes)

October will cure me🖤 Finding new recs for this was a little challenging but I guess that means I need to read more horror and gothic (happily!). Not pictured but also read Weavingshaw, it has a perfect, gothic, dark atmosphere that’s perfect for cloudy days and cooler weather.

🍂🖤🎃What started as thrifting Halloween decor took a turn to the book aisles…i did end up purchasing The Twisted Ones BUT it skipped the TBR shelf because I’ve already read it but didn’t own a copy. One book closer to completing my T Kingfisher collection😌
My favorite thing about thrifted/used books is the variety! I always find some unique and interesting books I’ve never heard of aaand I’ve found multiple first editions of books I really love or want to read which is always a great find! Do you prefer new or used books? Let me know below! taken in BOOKSTA by @librariesandcoffee

AUTUMN TBR🔮☕️🖤⚰️🥀
These are just a feeeew of the books I’m hoping to read over the next few months. I loooove October and I love the fall so I’m stacking it with some of my most anticipated reads!
Are any of these on your TBR?? Which should I start with👀 taken in BOOKSTA by @librariesandcoffee

I heard it was national coffee day☕️ so here’s a few books that I stayed up late reading and the coffee I’d recommended you drink with them!

Also a huuuge thank you to @readwithabbiee for the inspo!! I hope I see your version soon👀🫶🏻

I could not put down Diavola, The Twisted Ones, or Phantoms (stayed up till 4am for this one💀)! All of these had me on the edge of my seat and jumping at every noise.
☕️I’d recommend a decaf lavender oat milk latte, hot of course. No extra caffeine to spike to your anxiety, dairy free milk to avoid tummy troubles, and lavender to help calm the nerves😌🪻

🤭🥰 these had me giggling all night long!! Married to the Alien Cowboy was an unexpected hit, Legends and Lattes is literally about a coffee shop with the coziest atmosphere, and Lilac Creek had me sucked in from the first chapter with a “will they won’t they” plot I needed to know the ending of!!
☕️ I’d recommend an iced honey vanilla latte with a dash of cinnamon and your milk of choice! Something sweet but not soooo sweet it distracts from the cozy, cutesy stories keeping you up!

These fantasy worlds are some of my all time favorites! The world building (and character development) are out of this world and I couldn’t put any of them down. The priory of the Orange tree and Mistborn have such intriguing plots that I couldn’t put them down. Daggerbound was one of my most anticipated releases of the year and it did NOT disappoint!!
☕️ okay, controversial recommendation…an energy drink (ideally an alani nu or redbull) OR an iced americano. You need the quick energy and strong flavors to keep you locked into these fantasy worlds.

A man called Ove, Mate, and Deathbringer all had me SOBBING by the end. Honestly, most Fredrik Backman novels have me in tears (both happy and sad) by the end anyway. Mate and Deathbringer had so much angst and I knooow Sonia is going to destroy us more the sequel to Deathbringer (totally worth it!).
☕️ I’d recommend a warm dirty chai latte with an extra dash of cinnamon on top. Chai is a comfort drink for me and a dirty chai latte is my go to most of the time! taken in BOOKSTA by @librariesandcoffee

Currently Reading✨ there seems to be a magical theme!
🔮I’m sooo close to finishing Meet Cute Magic and I’m absolutely loving it!! I don’t want to jinx it but I’m feeeling a 4🌟 (please don’t make me eat my words).
🐈‍⬛Making sloooow progress in my buddy read with @justlaurreading aka An Ancient Witches Guide to Modern Dating. It’s not quite what I expected so not sure what I think yet.
📚The lost Bookshop was given to me by my friend Abby but the audio was available from the library so I’m listening. It’s a little slow right now but that makes it a perfect work read and I’m excited to see where the story will go.
Here’s to hoping I can finish at least one of these for my September wrap up!
I hope you’re having a good reading month! Do you have a favorite book so far this year?

✨recent acquisitions✨ don’t worry, these were pre-ordered/ordered before the book buying ban started! I’ve been anticipating Our Cut of Salt for months now and I’m ready to pick it up asap.
One of C.M. Nascota’s series is getting trad published so I knew I needed the original covers to match Morning Glory Milking Farm🤭
Have you read any of these, especially Our Cut of Salt? taken in BOOKSTA by @librariesandcoffee

I am soooo stoked to have received a physical arc of Ascendancy by Emily Hamilton!! (I’m like 99% sure this was from a Goodreads giveaway which is one of the few reasons I still use GR🫢)
I love a space opera and I love them even more when they’re sapphic! I own The Stars too Fondly and I’ve been meaning to pick it up for a while so now might be the time to get back into sci-fi! Even though I love the genre, I tend to pick up fantasy more often.
🪐 have you read The Stars Too Fondly? Or have a favorite cozy sci-fi/ space opera that you’d recommend?

✨Weekly Recap✨ swipe for the breakdown and stats. This week was honestly such a good reading week. I haven’t finished a lot of books so far this month but I’m really enjoying what I’m reading😌

Daggerbound - 4.5🌟 This was fantastic!! I love anything from T. Kingfisher and I’ve been anticipating this sequel for so long! If you haven’t picked up Swordheart, I hiiighly recommend before picking this one up!
The River Has Roots - 4🌟 My first from Amal El-Mohtar and I will most definitely be picking up more from them! The writing in this was so lyrical and the story itself felt like a fairytale.

Started the unworthy and illuminations, veeeery different vibes🫢

Yall, the unworthy is so…interesting? I’m uneasy but enjoying it?

The unworthy- 3🌟 this one isn’t sitting with me the way Tender is the Flesh did. That one reaaallly fucked me up. I fear I’ve read two books that were great involving a religious cult and the unworthy fell a little flat for me.
Illuminations - 3.5🌟 Such a unique story! T. Kingfisher never ceases to amaze me with her unique plots. Magic paintings + living paintings is a concept I haven’t seen before!

✨Stats✨
I finished 3 physical books (2 were under 200 pages) and 1 audio book.
I’m still currently reading Meet Cute Magic and I’d like to finish that this week. I’ll be starting An Ancient Witches guide as a buddy read with @justlaurreading !! And Between Two fires is one I’d like to get to soon. Have you read any of these?? taken in BOOKSTA by @librariesandcoffee
