The Mo Willems exhibit at Crown Center was delightful. So glad we made it there before it moved on. Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus! by @library.laura

It was really hard to tell my kiddos that the generous lady who’s been sending them books since they were born has passed away. #dollypartonimaginationlibrary has been such a part of their childhoods and she will be missed. What an amazing legacy! #dollyparton #bookstagram #librarylaura # by @library.laura

I had the most amazing opportunity to hear @justjuliawhelan speak thanks to @olathelibrary. I’ve never heard a talk like hers….part personal experience, part lecture on writing, creativity, library love, and hope in the changing technology landscape, and part dramatic audiobook reading! What a joy. And I got to be there with my friends @kellylulus and @navymist ā¤ļø by @library.laura

Our #themomco theme this year is #goodcompany and has big 90’s vibes. I asked my sister to find some pictures of me as a kid at my parents’ house this weekend and she delivered. Here’s little reader me up in our backyard play fort and it makes me so happy. I’ve been #librarylaura my whole life. by @library.laura

I received pdf advanced copies of these books to review before Fall publication for @david.c.cook #dccreads

The Heart Who Needed A Friend Beth Guckenberger
Illustrated by Irina Mileo

This continues the StrongHeart series, which I’ve read a few of now. When the heart is trying to have fun on a snowy day it encounters some challenges that threaten to make her give up on trying to make friends. Will she listen to the voice of the enemy or find the truth of God’s word? The illustrations are lovely and the struggles relatable, especially for early elementary kiddos.

The Jesus Centered Planner 2027

In typical adhd fashion I always hope that the right planner will change my life. This one probably won’t either…but with monthly and weekly spreads, memory verses and a gospel reading plan, and extra space for tasks, prayer and reflecting, it looks quite lovely and useful.

Loved By God by Kathryn JoyĀ  MacDowall

This book is so pretty and looks like a joy to read aloud to children. Packed with truth about their identity straight from God’s word, this is a good reminder for tiny hearts (and big ones too).

The #grownupspicturebookclub is discussing A Chair for My Mother by Vera Williams which means I definitely needed to pull out this picture of me and my boys in the mother’s chair at #therabbitholekc. I listened to the story again on audio today and I would say it holds up over time. I’m interested in introducing my 4 year old to the book sometime soon. I think he would relate to the saving up money for something and the importance of a good comfy chair. #achairformymother by @library.laura

I enjoyed reading All-of-a-Kind Family by Sydney Taylor and One of A Kind: The Life of Sydney Taylor by Richard Michelson for #grownupspicturebookclub. I am almost positive I read All-of-a-Kind Family as a kid because it seemed really familiar, but also I very much appreciated the re-read. Learning about the author was fascinating. I know her name because the ALA award for Jewish children’s literature is named after her, but I didn’t know her story. I appreciated how her daughter’s questions about her childhood and the lack of representation of Jewish children in children’s literature were her main motivations for writing, even though they weren’t published until much later.

Shoutout to the kids for napping and playing with Lego long enough for me to read and write this 🤩

Easter books we’ve been reading this year. My mom bought us The Garden, The Curtain and The Cross to include in the Easter baskets this year and it is a great addition to our library. I saw it recommended several places but I know @thepeacefulpress Lent lessons was one of them. I read it aloud to my @themomco_ group as a devotional last week.
How are you celebrating Easter? Are there any books that you think have added to your holiday celebrations?
