This has been a dream of mine for the last few years: Maryville Salon, a 3-day lit fest exploring, celebrating, and creating lesbian (FLINTA) and queer literature, based on the book of the same name. Each day has different focus.

Friday is RADICAL SPACES with Jane Cholmeley discussing Silver Moon Bookshop, Elizabeth Lovatt leading us through the annuls of Lesbian Line, and Desree discussing and reading Pat Parker, thinking about the radical space poetry creates/ has created.
Saturday is PERFORMANCE QUEERED with three of the most breathtaking queer performers and writers in contemporary literature: Jade Anouka (Dune, Dr Who), Charlie Joesphine (I, Joan, Cowboys), and Libro Levi Bridgman (The Butch Monologues, Hotpencil Press)
Sunday is devoted to THE HAUNTED BODY, horror, myth, and speculative fiction in queer literature with readings from Salena Godden (Mrs Death Misses Death) Nikita Gill (Hekate) and Julia Armfield (Our Wives Under the Sea, Private Rites)

Plus a commissioned solo exhibition at The Parlour Gallery responding to the book MARYVILLE by Emily Witham.

It’s Trans Day of Visibility. This year, I made a pact with myself to dig deep, knuckle down with my inky pen, keep writing whatever the conditions - It’s a dirty job etc - And to keep supporting other writers, activists & artists. This is a challenging time for everyone in the community. Globally.

El, the wonder Kydd, found me at a gig at the Ivy House, and spoke about The Dyke Deck (after Catherine Opie). Femmes (❤️), Butches (♣️), Trans (♦️) NBs (♠️). I wasn’t sure to be a dyke, but was obviously non-binary.

Was there ever any other card?

Pic 1: Jack as the wayward prince, Jack as the fallen son, Jack of all / master of none. Jack of Spades (2027) is also the new Coen film adapted from Joyce Carol Oates - starring Josh O’Connor.

Pic 2: London Fields fotobooth with El & Rain. It was April - a month after the Ivy House gig. The day was sharp & I had Carmen’s bug but we shot our pics and shot the breeze. I was in an oversized vintage suit.

Pic 3: The pack is here! Selling through the dyke deck insta & in bookshops & markets near you. It also has texts from 60 odd ppl in the pack. Thanks to Leslie Feinberg (and my mum) for my text and the inspo.

Anarkiss #14 is out.

Thanks for picking up on: glass shard

I wrote about the annual Mitchum Party hosted by Babz, Gabby, and Sonja. En route, I went to a pre-drinks at Mia’s with Pups & Saraid (and Paris the dog) where I stepped in a glass shard. The shard found a home in my foot. It was removed 9 days later thanks to the skills of Tasha P 🤍 xx

Big up to community as always, for the inspo (& the parties).

We made it to Lesvos (& back). Thanks to the aid of the Core Feminist Retreat. For 3 days, 13 of us grouped at a table. To talk, write, listen & hold space. It was our little pact to find trans & non-binary sustenance in toxic times. The Aegean sun soaked us. The Lesvos tides were velvety and warm. Maybe we made a manifesto. Maybe we spoke of laziness as a radical act. Maybe we held a closing circle stone. Thank you everyone for sharing the Sappho sizzle. And the ouzo and the beets.
