#salonedellibro #bookstagram #bookchallange #salto 🇮🇹🇮🇹 (🇬🇧🇬🇧⬇️⬇️) Mi sono improvvisamente resa conto che sono già passati quasi 4 mesi dal @salonelibro e, nonostante il ricco bottino, non ho ancora letto neanche un libro! 🫠📚 Ho pensato quindi di motivarmi con una challenge qui su Librosaria: voglio provare a leggere, entro il prossimo SalTo, tutti i libri che ho acquistato all’ultima edizione. Vi ho messo un po’ di calcoli in una slide, ma in sostanza dovrei leggere più di 2 libri al mese! 👀 Considerando la mole della mia TBR, sembra un progetto quantomeno ambizioso… 😂 Ho già scelto la mia prima lettura della SalTo Challenge… 👀 Gli indizi sono nella slide. Avete indovinato? 📖🔎 🇬🇧🇬🇧 I suddenly realised that it’s already been almost 4 months since the Turin International Book Fair, and despite my impressive book haul, I still haven’t read a single one! 🫠📚 So I thought I’d motivate myself with a little challenge here on Librosaria: I’m going to try to read, before next year’s SalTo, all the books I bought at this year’s edition. I’ve included some calculations in one of the slides, but basically, I should be reading more than 2 books a month! 👀 Considering the size of my TBR, this seems like a rather ambitious project… 😂 I’ve already picked my first SalTo Challenge read… 👀 The clues are in the slide. #bookstagram #fairyloot #tbr 🇮🇹(🇬🇧⬇️) 📚 TBR di settembre con canonico ritardo. 🦅"The Winged game" è un romantasy leggero, dove abbiamo una versione di creature volanti del Quidditch come fulcro intorno al quale ruota la storia. Purtroppo non è disponibile in italiano. 😢 Con "La storia" invece si cambia ovviamente completamente registro. È la grande narrativa al servizio del racconto di uno dei momenti più bui della nostra storia. 🦁 Per il club “Lettori a Lione” abbiamo deciso di omaggiare Stefano Benni a un anno dalla sua morte e quindi leggeremo Bar Sport e Margherita Dolcevita. Ma resto umile e per ora ne ho messo solo uno in TBR 🤣 💁🏻‍♀️ Per il club di lettura internazionale la proposta del mese è Trust. Ammetto di non sapere nulla di questo libro, a parte che ha vinto il premio Pulitzer 😅 💪🏻 E infine, per la SalTo challenge (il post pinnato nel mio profilo spiega i dettagli), questo mese mi lancio su Manuale di Magia Oscura per giovani spose di Sara Simoni. Le vibes gotiche italiane di Sara Simoni saranno un ottimo modo per prepararmi alla spooky season. E voi? Che libri leggerete? Ditemi! 🇬🇧🇬🇧 📚 September TBR, late as usual. 🦅 "The Winged Game" is a light romantasy featuring a version of Quidditch played on the backs of flying creatures, which is at the heart of the story. 😢 "History" is a complete change of pace. It’s great literature in the service of a story set during one of the darkest periods in our history. 🦁 For the “Lettori a Lione” book club, we decided to honour Stefano Benni, one year after his death, so we’ll be reading Bar Sport and Margherita Dolcevita. But let’s stay humble: for now, I’ve only put one of them on my TBR 🤣 💁🏻‍♀️ For the international book club, this month’s pick is Trust. I have to admit I know absolutely nothing about this book, other than the fact that it won the Pulitzer Prize 😅 💪🏻 And finally, for the SalTo Challenge (the pinned post on my profile has all the details), this month I’m going for Manuale di Magia Oscura per giovani spose by Sara Simoni. 🇮🇹 (🇬🇧 ENG BELOW ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️) Eh sì... Sono stata proprio una birichina quest'estate: in sostanza, in 3 mesi sono riuscita a leggere più o meno quello che avevo programmato per un solo mese 🤭 Ci importa? Certo che no! 😆 Però eccovi il carosello con le mie letture estive 📚☀️ Se vi va, fatemi sapere se siete d'accordo con le mie valutazioni. 🔝 Miglior libro dell'estate: "Kim Ji-Young, nata nel 1982". Una lettura sulla donna, l'identità e le disuguaglianze radicate nella nostra mente. Non racconta nulla di nuovo in realtà, ma lo fa in una maniera così semplice, pratica e senza piagnistei da risultare incredibilmente incisiva. ⬇️ Peggior libro dell'estate: "Nocticadia". Ero davvero convinta che mi sarebbe piaciuto, perché aveva gli ingredienti giusti. Purtroppo la ricetta probabilmente era sbagliata. 😅 💬 Dopo tantissimo anni ho anche letto un manga! Da ragazzina avevo guardato l'anime su Italia 1. Questi 7 volumetto mi hanno riportato indietro di oltre 20 anni 💛 In generale soddisfatta delle mie letture estive! È stato proprio un bel viaggio ⛵📚 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Oh yes… I was quite the little rascal this summer 🤭 Basically, in 3 months I read roughly what I had planned to read in just 1 month. Do we care? Of course not! 😂 But here’s my carousel with my summer reads 📚☀️ Let me know whether you agree with my ratings! 🔝 Best book of the summer: Kim Ji-Young, Born 1982 A book about women, identity, and the inequalities ingrained in our minds. It doesn’t really tell us anything new, but it does so in such a simple, concrete, non-whiny way that it ends up being incredibly impactful. ⬇️ Worst book of the summer: Nocticadia I was really convinced I would love it because it had all the right ingredients. Unfortunately, it seems the recipe was wrong. 😅 💬 After so many years, I also read a manga! When I was a teenager, I watched the anime and these seven volumes took me back more than 20 years. 💛 Overall, though, I’m happy with my summer reads! TBR di giugno 📚✨ (🇬🇧🇬🇧⬇️⬇️) Ottimismo o illusione? Questo mese vorrei riuscire a leggere i 6 libri del carosello (o almeno provarci con convinzione). 🎧 "L'inverno della strega", terzo volume della trilogia Winternight. L'ho già iniziato da un po' in audiolibro e per ora mi sta piacendo molto. 🎧 "House of Bone and Blood", primo volume della dilogia Vows and Vengeance, anche questo in audiolibro. 📖 "Direbound", primo volume della trilogia The Wolves and Ruin. Avrò il privilegio di leggerlo nella splendida edizione Fairyloot, regalatami dalla mia book bestie clem.isreading. Poi sarebbe il turno di almeno uno dei libri del club di lettura Lettori a Lione: 🔲 "Kim Ji-Young, nata nel 1982". In realtà devo ancora recuperare "Middlesex" da un incontro precedente, ma per ora è in pausa. Infine... la mia prima collaborazione! Grazie a @lorenzo_lai_7 per avermi fornito la copia omaggio. Non so se riuscirò a finirli tutti, ma — soprattutto quando si parla di lettura — l'importante è il viaggio, non la meta. 📖✨ 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 June TBR 📚✨ Optimism or delusion? This month, I'd like to read the 6 books featured in this carousel (or at least give it my best shot). 🎧 The Winter of the Witch, the third and final book in the Winternight Trilogy. I've already started it in audiobook format, and I'm really enjoying it so far. 🎧 House of Bone and Blood, the first book in the Vows and Vengeance duology, also as an audiobook. 📖 Direbound, the first book in The Wolves and Ruin trilogy. I'll have the privilege of reading it in the gorgeous @fairyloot edition, gifted to me by my book bestie @clem.isreading Then it'll be time for at least one of the books chosen by the Lettori a Lione book club: 🔲 "Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982". I also still need to catch up on "Middlesex" from a previous meeting, but that one is on hold for now. Finally... my very first collaboration! 🇮🇹 (🇬🇧⬇️⬇️) Wrap Up delle letture di maggio. 📚 5 libri in tutto, di cui: 🎧2 audiolibri 🔲2 ebook 📖1 cartaceo ⭐Miglior lettura del mese⭐ "Shield of Sparrows" di Devney Perry. Menzione d'onore a "Skippy muore", che sto ancora elaborando e che ha confermato il mio amore per la scrittura di Murray. Due dei libri li avevo letti in preparazione del SalTo, e sinceramente ne è valsa la pena! Infatti, al di là dei voti e delle recensioni, sono stata soddisfatta di tutte e 5 le letture, e mi sento di consigliarle tutte agli amanti dei rispettivi generi. 🇮🇹 (🇬🇧 ⬇️) "Il mio anno di riposo e Oblio" - Ottessa Moshfegh ⭐⭐⭐.5 🤓TRAMA Una giovane donna bella e benestante nella New York dei primi anni 2000 decide di sparire dal mondo senza andarsene davvero. Il suo piano: trascorrere un anno intero a dormire. La storia si muove tra black out farmacologici, relazioni e amicizie tossiche, e una ricerca di qualcosa di inafferrabile. 🙋🏻‍♀️LA MIA OPINIONE Ho trovato questo libro ipnotico e stranamente difficile da definire. L’ho letto avidamente, immersa nella mente della protagonista, pur continuando a chiedermi: “Ma mi sta davvero piacendo?”. Alcuni passaggi risultano forse poco realistici, ma il vuoto emotivo, l’alienazione e certe relazioni tossiche risultano invece molto credibili. L'autrice non offre risposte né una catarsi chiara: lascia frammenti di riflessione che continuano a sedimentare anche dopo l’ultima pagina. Ammetto che, spiazzata dal finale, forse non ho capito del tutto questo libro. Lo definirei una "non comfort reading", ma memorabile. Ne è valsa la pena. 🇬🇧 "My Year of Rest and Relaxation" – Ottessa Moshfegh ⭐⭐⭐.5 🤓 PLOT A young, beautiful, and wealthy woman in early 2000s New York decides to disappear from the world without actually leaving it. Her plan: to spend an entire year sleeping. The story moves through drug-induced blackouts, toxic relationships and friendships, and a search for something elusive. 🙋🏻‍♀️ MY THOUGHTS I found this book hypnotic and strangely hard to define. I read it compulsively, immersed in the protagonist’s mind, while constantly asking myself: “Am I actually enjoying this?”. Some parts of the story may feel slightly unrealistic, but the emotional emptiness, alienation, and certain toxic relationships feel very authentic. The author offers no answers or clear catharsis: only fragments of reflection that linger long after the final page. I admit that, thrown by the ending, I may not have fully understood this book. 🇮🇹 (🇬🇧 BELOW) "Una cosa divertente che non farò mai più" — David Foster Wallace 🛳️⚓ TRAMA Incaricato dalla rivista Harper's, Wallace racconta la sua esperienza a bordo di una lussuosa nave da crociera nei Caraibi. Il saggio alterna osservazioni esilaranti a riflessioni profonde e malinconiche. Wallace descrive il modo in cui i passeggeri vengono coccolati, viziati e infantilizzati dal personale. Ma sotto la superficie comica emerge una riflessione più oscura: quella sensazione di vuoto esistenziale che paradossalmente si insinua proprio nell'abbondanza totale. LA MIA OPINIONE ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 Mi sono divertita tanto nel leggere questo "reportage". Un tipo di ironia che mi ha fatto proprio ridere ad alta voce, nonostante sia evidente la critica all'esperienza descritta. Forse mi sono un po' persa nell'ultimo capitolo, e sono rimasta spiazzata dalla conclusione repentina. Ho trovato interessanti le riflessioni sul "Sorriso Professionale" (sai che è finto, ma se non lo ricevi ti senti defraudato); sul turista americano; sulla sostanziale incontentabilità della natura umana. 🫵🏻 E tu cosa ne pensi? Fammi sapere se lo hai letto! ----------------------------------------------------------- 🇬🇧 "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again" — David Foster Wallace 🛳️⚓ PLOT Commissioned by Harper's magazine, Wallace describes his experience aboard a luxury cruise ship in the Caribbean. The essay alternates hilarious observations with deep and melancholic reflections. Wallace describes the way passengers are pampered and infantilized by the staff. But beneath the comic surface, a darker reflection emerges: that sense of existential emptiness that paradoxically creeps in within total abundance. MY OPINION ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 I had a great time reading this reportage. It made me laugh out loud, despite the evident critique of the experience. Many interesting thoughts. For example on the "Professional Smile" (you know it is fake, but if you expect it); on the American tourist; on the fundamental insatiability of human nature. 🫵🏻 What do you think about this book?
