04/2026 Heidelberger Frühling Liedakademie, 3rd Module 🌷 It was a pleasure to be part of the Heidelberger Frühling Musikfestival 2026 and ending this module with a concert at Marstallcafé! We had an amazing week continuing our work with the great @thomashampson and @des.es.f.a ✨

Music brought us together — grateful for the beautiful friendships, new connections and shared moments along the way 🤍🎶

It fills my heart with great joy to have the opportunity to be part of the Heidelberger Frühling Liedakademie. Together with a group of talented young musicians, and under the guidance of bariton @thomashampson and pianist @des.es.f.a, I am looking forward to dedicating myself to the fascinating world of Lied this year. 🎶

I am excited for an inspiring, rewarding, and challenging time filled with music, learning, and artistic exchange 🤍

New Liedakademie class ✨ Here they are!

We proudly present the new scholarship holders of the Liedakademie 2026/27! 🎵

Chosen from around 270 applicants from all over the world, these 12 outstanding singers and pianists made it through our two-stage audition process.

We couldn’t be prouder and are so happy to welcome this new group of young artists to Heidelberg. 🫶

The academy year has already started, and we’re very much looking forward to the exciting journey ahead of them!

Our tip: Get to know the new class today! Together with star baritone Thomas Hampson, they’ll be working on beautiful songs in a public masterclass. We hope to see you there! ✨

✨ Audition Recap & Congrats to the new scholars ✨

Earlier this week, 50 talented singers and pianists came to Heidelberg for the final rounds of the Liedakademie auditions, selected from around 270 applications worldwide.

After great performances and many hours of discussion, our wonderful jury has chosen the 12 artists who will join the Liedakademie:

Pure emotion ✨ Pianist @hugobperes and mezzo-soprano @laurastreckert bring Schumann’s romantic master piece „Stille Tränen“ („Silent Tears“) to life with absolute beauty and intensity! A wonderful performance that stays with us long after.

In the Liedakademie Closing Concert, the young singers and pianists presented their year’s hard work and artistic development. We couldn’t be prouder. 🙌

A wild ride! Pianist @blauhimmel_ and @emmikauppinen_ Singer bring Libby Larsen’s Bucking Bronco to life with pure joy! 🔥

Far from your typical art song, it tells the story of a cowboy taming a wild horse written from the unique perspective of legendary female outlaw Belle Starr.

As part of ourLiedfestival’s focus on American Song, this piece perfectly showcases just how versatile contemporary Lied can be.

Time seems to stand still when mezzo-soprano @hazuki_hirano and pianist @eve_kerloch perform John Musto’s „Litany“.

Based on a poem by Langston Hughes, the piece is a moving plea for compassion for those who are exhausted, forgotten, and left behind. Hughes‘ words confront us directly with those pushed to the margins of society:

„…the depraved,
The desperate, the tired,
All the scum
Of our weary city.
Gather up
In the arms of your pity.
Gather up
In the arms of your love—
Those who expect
No love from above.“

As part of our Liedfestival, we explored the rich tradition of American Songs that reflect the country’s many voices, histories, and identities.
