3 Year “Us Day” Anniversary date night of perfection! 🥂

We both like to celebrate our original wedding date, August 1st 2020 before COVID had other plans, that Jason calls “Us Day,” which I love! 🐝

He planed the most perfect evening by giving me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and surprising me with a getaway trip to come, for which I’m so excited!

The night started by taking me back to the spot where we first met to share a cocktail and then to where we had dinner . . . after things were going so well over our first date drink that he didn’t want the date to end and asked me to join him for dinner! 🥃

We shared the same margarita pizza, a drink and tiramisu that we shared that first night and @eatnorthitalia made it extra special with a surprise added to our dessert to celebrate as their gift to us! 🍕🍮

Finally, he took me back to the spot where he had proposed, which was on the rooftop where we first met, and it was so sweet! It could not have been a more magical night with just the two of us, he knows me so well and always makes things so special! 🤍✨ taken in Denver, Colorado by @lieslehardt

3 years ago today, I married my soulmate! 🥂

Each and every day, he does whatever he can to be sure I’m happy, continues to grow, work on himself and be there for me in every way possible.

He is the best listener with a sensitive soul who is in touch with his emotions and expresses his feelings beautifully, which can be rare to find in a man and is a quality my dad posses that I simply adore!

He never fails to let me how much he loves me each every single day and be there, without question, at the drop of a hat for those he holds closest to his heart . . . I’m sure glad I swiped right on @bumble! 😉🐝 taken in Cherokee Ranch and Castle by @lieslehardt

Santorini, Greece Highlights and a Year in Review of our trip with honest thoughts below! 🇬🇷

There is no question that Santorini is beautiful and the Greek blue domes against the snowy white architecture and cotton candy sunsets, displayed in so many photographs of the area, is something to be seen and shared.

That said, and something that will most likely be met by unpopular opinion, is that it lacks authenticity. I would absolutely recommend going to see it for a day or 2, but to us, it, sadly, felt like a tourist trap, which was somewhat expected, and vegas-y with a lack of that genuine feel.

There weren’t local shops with handmade items, instead almost every single shop in all the towns sold the exact same, mass produced magnets, mugs, shot glasses, bracelets, t-shirts, etc.

After speaking with a local, it seems to be a result of tourism to an extreme and COVID. As much as they need tourism, she mentioned how it, social media and so many celebrities putting it on the map, so to speak, has ruined the island’s original charm.

Since the pandemic, she mentioned that none of the original businesses or restaurants is still there. It forced them to shut their doors and big commercial businesses took over, contributing to that Disney-esque, well oiled machine feel.

If we had it to do over, we would stick to the smaller, lesser known, off the beaten path, non “Instagram famous” spots where we could see how locals truly live and get a more real feel for the area.

So many want a “perfect” picture, I, myself have been guilty of this, but who is it really for in those moments? Ultimately, what we have found brings us the most joy has been in the unexpected spots we stumble upon and little trips to not always the most glamorous locations.

We learned a lot on this trip about how we want to travel moving forward, which is a lot of what life is about. Most important, we want to take the experiences and memories with us for ourselves, instead of seeking perfection based on what we see online. All in hopes of discovering places and creating moments without expectations, and we are excited to see what that brings in 2024! 🤗 taken in Imerovigli, Santorini, Greece by @lieslehardt

It’s taken me some time to write this post, but I feel it is important to honor and remember this sweet soul, Jason’s grandmother, Nellie Irene Strauss.

She lived a full life, saw so much in her 96 years and not only became a grandmother to me since meeting in 2018, but also taught me so much, especially through the pandemic and on our nightly calls.

She had a subtle humor and great one liners, which I would write down to always remember. She loved the color red, strawberry milkshakes (but hold the whip cream, just like Moi) and made a mean spaghetti! She loved golf, was great at it, too, and used to dance the nights away with girlfriends and her husband, Terrell. She was a calming presence for me, had blue eyes that twinkled and a smile that lit up the room!

She will be forever missed, particularly on Sundays when we’d get together weekly for dinner and games, but I’ll always have the wonderful memories and feel truly fortunate to have had her in my life.

As she once said on 9/2/22, and I noted on her famous quotes page . . .

“Hopefully, we can see each other soon and have a Whoopi good time!” I’m sure we’ll do just that again one day! Love and miss you!!! 🕊️♥️✨ by @lieslehardt
