As I try to prepare for six weeks of summer school, I find myself in awe once again at the things God has done thus far.

At the end of Year 3, the world was in such disarray that we could not wrap our minds around the massive waves of overwhelming changes and uncertainty that took over in a matter of moments. Learning began to feel unreal. Teaching began to feel obsolete. The purpose felt lost and unattainable.

But replaying graduation in my head; hearing the students’ speeches, the honest wise words from the keynote speaker Wuta @stunn_daddy, the letters to Future Self by students read by JB @ojastrolith, seeing the joy of award recipients, saying congratulations to all students, family members and staff.. allowed me to see how God continues to provide. We made it through the COVID-19 world pandemic. We navigated through remote learning. We survived! Thank you God for your continuous guidance and protection. 🙏🏾

Dr. Bettina L. Love proclaims, “We want to do more than survive”! We have to resurrect the souls of the exceptional learners and educators that have been crushed and spiritually died during the last 16 months. I know that God alone has the knowledge and power to do so. I pray that He instills in all of us the patience, compassion and the ability to be quick to listen, slow to take offensive but always ready for reconciliation and learn from each other. It’s time to rebuild. You in? 🙋🏾‍♀️

As I reflect on the closing of the first week of my 2nd year of teaching, I just want to give ALL honor to God. He has ordered my steps into a place I would have NEVER explored on my own. I give Him all the glory for trusting me to make a positive imprint on the lives of over 70 astonishingly beautiful young adults as their 8th grade math teacher, for bestowing to me a passion for math and youth advocacy, for gifting me with an opportunity to work at Lyons Community School where being myself is the core expectation & where I have plenty of room to grow. And, for surrounding me with His children who support me in every way possible (my family, close friends, grad professor & colleagues). I pray that I continue to go great things under your guidance Lord as we embark on another journey!
