Affordable fall decor. Comment FALL for links! None of these pieces scream fall, rather are a subtle nod to the season. But can be used all year round as well. My favorite kind of decor!

Decorating a little nod to fall. Things I begin to switch over this time of year or add in are:

— swap around my lighting and turn my lamps on more as the sun dips sooner

— fall foliage & florals (these are regular sunflowers & a fun way to create a more avante garde arrangement is to take the petals off.) I usually do this when the petals start to get a little sad and wilted to give longer life to my sunflowers. Plus it feels sculptural and moody. Perfect for fall!

— I love collecting artwork so I like to swap around what is hanging on the walls. This painting is my most prized art piece. It was painted by my cousin and has had a pride of place in every childhood home I’ve lived in and I’ve belonged to me the past several years. I love bringing it out front and center for fall and winter!

— richer hues in my textiles come out to play. I’ll continue to add more layers but this orange plaid is a subtle nod to the season.

What are you most excited for during fall? 🍁🍂

The things I’m eyeing this week for wardrobe. I love to focus on more staple pieces I can wear in a variety of ways and then have fun with accessories. What’s on your radar right now? Comment STAPLES for links to these pieces 🫶🏼

My approach to decorating for fall is not to run out to Target for the latest “fall themed” home decor. My approach is always to create a *feeling* rather than make my home scream the season through themed decor. I’ll talk more about this but these 5 decor pieces I always bring out starting this time of year to create a cozier feeling in my home.

What are things you bring out or do this time of year that feels like fall to you? 🍂🍁

September mood. Where one foot is in summer and the other is slowly stepping into fall. One of my favorite months of the year. (Images via Pinterest) by @life_simplified

I shared last week’s Etsy edit on Substack. This week I thought I’d try it on here! Clearly I am really drawn to red, white and blue lately. It’s such a crisp and classic color combination in my mind. And antiques make it all the better!

Any comment will get you links to these items and the full round up!

3 ways I romanticize eating at home 🍽️ We have a newborn and are trying to save money, so we’ve been exclusively eating at home. But it doesn’t need to be boring!

1. Set a proper table — get out the table cloths, use the nice dishes, decant food onto platters and bowls, break out your good serveware, use linen napkins

2. Play music — I have go-to playlists and genres I love putting on in the background while we eat. It helps to set the mood for an enjoyable meal.

3. Name your dining place — this is something fun we did a couple years ago and it just adds an element of whimsy to our at-home dining experience! We call our outside dining area The Oleander Bistro and our kitchen tabke Café Deuplauché. Two places we always have a standing reservation at 😜

How do you like to make eating at home a fun experience? Do you do any of these things? by @life_simplified
