When a woman loses her husband, she can lose her income, her home, her standing in the community and sometimes her voice, all at once.

Here are 7 reasons why you should be supporting a widow:

1. She’s often the most overlooked person in her community, and being seen is where change can begin.

2. Supporting one woman lifts her whole household, because she carries her children’s needs on her shoulders.

3. Many widows are left with no income or property, so practical help restores both security and dignity.

4. Her children’s futures depend on hers: school, food, and stability all start with her.

5. Small gifts go a long way, whether that’s a clean water source or the tools to start a small business.

6. We believe in empowerment, so she gets the means to build her own independence.

7. Isolation is heavy, and knowing someone remembers her can change how she sees her future.

Finally, among many other scriptures, Isaiah 1:17 says we should take up the cause of the fatherless, and plead for the widow.

And Deut 10:18 States that God defends the fatherless and widow and provides them food and clothing.

This is a cause that’s on His heart.

You don’t need to do everything, but you can do something. Become a LifeAid partner today and help a widow and her children rise again. Link in bio.

When we met some of our women (widows) in Nigeria, the gratitude they showed us was overwhelming.

There were tears, songs, hands held for far longer than a handshake. The women said “Thank you for not forgetting us.”

Many of them have carried grief, responsibility and hardship alone for years, and yet they welcomed us with joy.

To our partners: thank you. Your giving is the reason a widow can feed her children, start a small business, and know that someone sees her.

You may never hear her voice in person, but I want you to see how much they are thriving with your support.

The borehole was only the beginning.

After we left the village with clean water finally flowing, we carried on to Lusaka, because the needs of the people didn’t stop and neither did we.

We sat with and prayed for the women in prison and reminded them that they haven’t been forgotten.

We also spent some time at the University Teaching Hospital’s Maternity Ward.

Meeting the new mums who have sick babies, from hydrocephalus, spina bifida to jaundice. It was an emotional experience.

Some of these ladies were as young as 15 and they are going through so much at one of the most tender moments of their lives.

Later on we prayed with women who stay in the hospital Mother’s shelter because their babies are in ICU. We met with offenders with mental health problems and some Lifeaid beneficiaries.

All in all, the trip was a success and to our partners, this is what your giving looks like.

It isn’t a figure on a spreadsheet; it’s a mother who feels seen, a family that’s being cared for, a woman who knows somebody showed up for her. Every picture in this post exists because of you.

Thank you, because you’re changing lives, and we wanted you to see it with your own eyes.

Phase 2 of the borehole project in Katokamema is now officially complete and this village in Zambia now has easy access to clean running water.

Clean, safe water now flows in the heart of the village, which means fewer long walks to fetch it, fewer children falling ill from it and more time for school, work and family.

Swipe through to see it for yourself. We’ll never forget this experience and the impact you have made to the lives of so many.

To our partners, thank you for believing in this project and backing it with your generosity.

To everyone who has donated, shared our posts, kept us in your prayers, cheered us on and sent your good wishes, this is your win too.

You didn’t just support a project, you changed daily life for an entire community and for this we’re so grateful.

MEET OUR FOUNDER:
LifeAid began in Dec 07 as FoodAid, sparked by a missionary trip to a rural Nigerian village. Our founder, Atinuke Omisade was deeply moved by the harsh realities she witnessed: orphaned children living in poverty, widows stripped of dignity & entire families left without help.

That trip turned into a calling.

Today, LifeAid has grown into an intl mission & has worked across Nigeria, Kenya, Thailand, Ivory Coast, Zambia, India and Bulgaria. Through community-centered outreaches, we restore hope, rebuild futures & empower those forgotten by the world.

A simple statement in Mark 6:37- “You give them something to eat” led to the birthing of LifeAid, a charity that empowers orphans and widows. Looking after the vulnerable, creating opportunities, educating, nurturing and much more is what LifeAid's all about.

Atinuke is a visionary leader & ordained minister devoted to being a world changer.

She is deeply passionate about helping the poor & vulnerable find emotional healing and is particularly interested in equipping and restoring dignity to children & women across the globe.

Through LifeAid, she continues to build a global community that reflects the heart of God: one that uplifts, empowers & reminds the overlooked that they are seen, valued, and loved.
