Regardless of her politics Ann stuck to her principles. To think she has lost her life to someone who perhaps didn't like her principles, at 78, is beyond belief. When did we move to being a country which didn't respect others principles?
I met Ann around 22yrs ago at a UK car industry ladies charity event at the Savoy in London, she was a brilliant raconteur, very funny with some great anecdotes from the political names she worked with over a few decades. I attended the same event over many years and some much bigger names weren't half as entertaining. As a woman she had time for everyone, was hugely intelligent and very, very sharp, and she didn't deserve this. (pic credit: Tavistock Times) by @lifeatthemasthead

**update... they raised almost £180,000!!Fundraising at its simplest and finest in Torbay tonight. No head shaving, fancy foreign mountain treks, flights, or personal goal achievement events needing lots of equipment to be donated....just thousands of people on an 8 mile bay walk with bars and other sponsors en route helping out and benefitting from the sale of sustenance! They each pay £60 to enter plus they each have sponsorship forms to raise money in advance of the walk. Well done Rowcroft Hospice on their brilliantly simple SleepWalk. nb. the first photo is not my own, credit to an anon' contributor on Spotted Torquay for the still from their video. by @lifeatthemasthead

Portrait of Mai c. 1776. Sir Joshua Reynolds...and a portrait of the sea captain who sailed him to England. If you're interested in the whole Captain James Cook adventures this is a lovely exhibition on at @theboxplymouth for a short while longer until this magnificent (and huge!) painting goes to New York. by @lifeatthemasthead
