After the Camino 70 mile walk across Spain - a cheeky few days in Portugal 🇵🇹 was a much needed rest (despite taking the MIL 🤣)

Getting worse at taking pics but was a really lovely place (Eden Villas in Albufeira) despite the kids everywhere - do they not go school anymore 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Back to work tomorrow so chill day today 👌🏻

Well we made it 💪🏼
It took 8 days but we made it - 115k of every type of uphill and downhill there can be, on our crawl across Spain to complete the Camino De Santiago final 100k Pilgrimage and collect our Compostella 👊🏼

Ending the journey with a shorter 10k from Vilamaior into Santiago • The day started very misty and temperature, in the main, remained fairly comfortable, in the shade🌞

We treated ourselves (again) to a €120 twin room in a decent hotel for tonight - the sort that has choccies on the pillow and a phone in the bathroom🤪👌🏼

We are shattered and battered but also had an awesome adventure over the past 10 days 👌🏼

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way - it means a lot to us both 💕

115k Camino Crawl Day 7 complete - and boy this was a tough one 👏🏼

Around 18k today from Salceda to Vilamaior • Some monster hills today (again) which were sooooo steep • Temperature was uncomfortable 🥵

Bargain €60 twin room (with bathroom) in a lovely place and food was fabulous 👌🏼

Last day tomorrow with final 10k to get us to the finish, in Santiago - seems hard to believe now 👊🏼

Today we kept bumping into a friendly Belgium man 🇧🇪 who was going as slow as us 🤦‍♀️

115k Camino Crawl Day 6 complete - the end is nearing👏🏼

A solid 17k today from Castaneda to Salceda • Back to a reasonable €50 twin room (with bathroom of course) - Still mostly up and downhill all the way here • Temperatures remain fairly comfortable although humidity not helping 🥵

Around 29k left to do over next 2 days 👊🏼

Today we met the lovely Micky from the US of A - a 73 year old veteran of the Camino who was ‘finishing’ off the last 50k in one day - the man’s a machine 💪🏽
He was really inspirational and gave us a real boost to keep going 👊🏼

115k Camino Crawl Day 5 complete👏🏼

We still ache any time we move, which is unfortunate given we are moving so much throughout the day 😳

Back to 15k today from O Coto to Castaneda • An even more extravagant €120 for a 2 bed house with bathrooms - although lady took us to fetch dinner and we must smell bad as she’s done our washing so proper result👌🏼• Still mostly up and downhill all the way here • Temperatures remain fairly comfortable although got pretty warm later in the day 🌞

45k left to do over next 3 days 👊🏼

Today we have some friendly Mexican and Spanish men we met along the way 🤪

115k Camino Crawl Day 4 complete👏🏼

Feels like Day 7😳 we still ache - constantly so lots of stretching and very slow walking to manage it • A ‘rest day’ today with a short 10k from Palas De Rei to O Coto • An extravagant €90 for private twin with bathroom and lovely place again • Still very much up and downhill all the way (definitely a pattern here 😳) • Temperature more comfortable at least which makes all the difference .

Around 59k still to go so pretty much half way now 👊🏼

We also met Barcelona Maria 🇪🇸 again today😂, along with the couple from Glasgow who we keep bumping into 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 - see what they look like from the back 🤪

115k Camino Crawl Day 3 complete👏🏼

Another 16k again today from Gonzar to Palais De Rei • We booked the Alberge in advance again for tonight (€48 for private twin with bathroom) and sent backpacks on - will 100% be the same now for the rest of the trip.

Woke up and my calves were shot this morning so it has been a true crawl today and on plus side, it took my mind off my foot aching 🤪 Very much up and down but at least it was cooler.

Around 69k to go 🤪

Here we have a lovely friendly Italian man 🇮🇹 we met - whose name we don’t know but he wanted to marry us both 😂

115k Camino Crawl Day 2 complete👏🏼

Around 16k again today from Ferrerios through Portomarín to Gonzar (plus extra 4k round Portomarín and going the wrong way) • Lovely section through the woodland where we didn’t see anyone else for miles and even saw a deer running ahead on the path 🦌
We pre-booked the Alberge for tonight (€57 for private twin with bathroom) and sent backpacks on ahead so just the day bags today - thank the lord because its been hard work without them - uphill and 27 degrees doesn’t begin to explain how hard it was • We set off at 8am and got to Alberge at 6pm 😳

Still 84k to go • Backpacks going ahead again and hopefully a good sleep ready for whatever tomorrow brings 🫣

We spent some time with the lovely Maria from Barcelona 🇪🇸 - whose life we reckon I saved 🤣

115k Camino Crawl Day 1 complete👏🏼

This was yesterday (couldn’t post 🤦‍♀️)
We found a fab private room last night in Sarria - was 2 bunks but at least had its own toilet 🚽and at €30 Euro - a bargain?

We have done around 16k today - doesn’t sound a lot but trust me it felt like way more • Almost all of it was uphill and the weathers hit around 24 degrees so feels like we’ve done 50k 🤪
We still have around 100k left 🫣

We have found a lovely Algerge along the way for tonight in Ferrerios - bit more at €60 but twin beds and has a private shower and toilet - even has fluffy towels so proper bargain👌🏼

Hopefully a good rest tonight will see us right for tomorrow🤞🏼

THIS IS IT - we are here in Spain for the Camino 115k Pilgrimage - or what we are likely doing - The Camino Crawl 👏🏼

Introducing Donna - whose idea this was and my partner in crawl 🤪

The adventure started yesterday with 4 hour trains to Gatwick, plane to Santiago this morning, then 3 buses to Sarria - where the real experience starts first thing tomorrow morning🚶 we have found a room for the night and eaten so all set 👌🏼

I may be questioning my life choices tomorrow but all is good for now • Wish us luck 🍀🤪

REST WEEK - 1 week til the Camino 100k Pilgrimage and a ‘rest week’ this week • If I’m not ready now - it’s a bit late 😱

All packed now ready and with backpack at 5.5kg nothing else is going in • Protein bars alone are 500g but I wanted to be sure of decent ones and at least they will reduce weight each day 😜

Yesterdays big walk - longest yet at 9 mile for Camino 100k training 💪🏻
Weather was kind and pub stop halfway for refreshments • Backpack at 5kg and wasn’t too bad either - not much more weight to go in thankfully 😜

I’m off to eat chocolate 🍫- love an Easter egg me and I feel like I burnt enough calories yesterday to justify at least a couple 😜
