What if the energy transition could create opportunity without leaving communities behind?

Ubaidurrahman Sulaiman, Founder of Genesys One, is working at the intersection of technology, climate action and responsible critical mineral supply chains.

Through blockchain-powered traceability and ESG infrastructure, Genesys One is helping formalise artisanal mining, reduce environmental harm and connect African mineral producers to more transparent and responsible markets. The company has worked with over 500 artisanal and small-scale mining operations across Africa.

Nominated by Global Shapers Kano Hub, Ubaid will bring a powerful perspective on building sustainable systems while ensuring communities can benefit from Africa’s role in the global energy transition.

🚀 Today, we launch Genesys One
Watch our official launch video.

Africa powers the global energy transition ⚡
Lithium, copper, and rare earth minerals flow into markets worth hundreds of billions.

But once these minerals leave the mine, they move through opaque supply chains —
with limited traceability, weak compliance, and lost value. ⛏️

At the same time, global regulations are tightening.
Traceability is no longer optional — it’s becoming the baseline.

Genesys One is building the operating system for the African commodity trade.

We embed traceability, compliance, and execution directly into mineral flows —
so producers access global markets on fair terms, and buyers source with confidence.

This is bigger than transparency.
It’s about redefining Africa’s role in the global economy.

Africa shouldn’t just supply the future. It should define it. 🌍

The Major lessons I learnt this past year is this; There's never a perfect time where all variables would be just right, you've just got to take action and make it right.

WISH created My Culture My Pride to celebrate the richness of our diverse heritage, showcasing the vibrancy of our traditions, art, and talent. This second edition was truly a remarkable celebration of culture, art, and unity.

We had an incredible turnout of amazing people who came to experience something truly special.

The performances? Absolutely breathtaking! We had courageous individuals impervious to sharp metals and knives-Wasan Wanzamai, performers who fearlessly played with flames-Wasan Makera, the rhythmic Koroso dancers, the soulful sounding Shantu, and even the traditional tunes of kukuma more. and so much

Our horse riders put on a grand display of skill and tradition, while our live painting competition brought out the best of our artistic talents.

Shout-out to all our partners, sponsors and vendors who made this event possible and the amazing team @sumayya_tofa @iconfarouk @rahmahdhan @lifeofabdulll @ngbritish @maikwabofoods @northino_learning by @lifeofubaid

Sunsets in themselves are generally superior to sunrises, but with the sunset, we appreciate images drawn from departed peace and faded glory.
