👋 It's been a while, so we thought let's do another introduction!

We're Klaas and Sharon, both 38 years old and originally from the Netherlands. 🇳🇱 We have been adventuring together around this planet for almost 18 years. 💍 As you can see, we love the outdoors, and the mountains are our happy place. ⛰️ We're now exploring Europe with our self build campervan 🚐 a Fiat Ducato L2H2 with everything we need inside. We're hiking addicts 🚶🏼‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️ and love good food. That's also why we like big hikes, so we can eat more. 😋 We're not digital nomads, and we never work and travel at the same time. 🤑 We don't work in the fields we studied for anymore because we love it to try new things, and we're allergic to stress. In terms of jobs, we've done many different things. From waitress to receptionist, from scaffolding to decorating, from working in the kitchen to working in a factory, from building lights to working in a hospital. For us, working isn't just about making money, but also about learning new skills and getting to know other people. 👶🚫 We are childfree, and our freedom means the world to us. 🗺 Our next big adventures will be Scandinavia and Japan. The first one will take place in 2025, and for the latter, we don't have a plan yet! 📸 Our 10 most memorable memories so far. We hate it to pick favorites and would probably select different favorites tomorrow. 😅

One of our most favorite viewpoints of the Vikos gorge, Beloi. 💚

🥾 You can take a short walk here from Vradeto. It's about half an hour on an easy trail.

🚶🏼‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️ Or you can do as we did. Park at Kapesovo and take the Vradeto steps. Approx 10km return with 550m elevation gain.

We went early in the morning, but not too early because then the gorge is still in the shade. We had the viewpoint and the trail all to ourselves, which was perfect. On the way back we treated ourselves to a second breakfast with a view in Vradeto. 😋

Is #waterfallwednesday still a thing?

Ah well, even if it isn't, here we go anyways 💦

📍 Sopot waterfall - we hiked in from the bridge over the Vjosa river and followed a dirt road (2km) to Stëmbec. You can also drive this part, but we didn't want to do that with our van. From here it's about 2.5 km and 300m in elevation gain to reach the waterfall. It's a beautiful trail and the views are amazing. When you reach the waterfall, you can keep going, and hike into a bowl surrounded by steep walls. We hiked for about another kilometer (200m up) when we reached some nice rocks to have lunch. You can see that trail after the waterfall on the 3rd photo. It starts of steep for a bit, but then it evens out quickly.

Hiking in Albania 🇦🇱 If you love walking through cold and hot water in a narrow canyon, this one is for you!

📍 Langarica Canyon

🚶🏼‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️ The walk starts at a beautiful old bridge, and from there you can immediately visit some hotsprings. We recommend to go early in the day, keep walking upstream through the river, and visit the other hotsprings. We didn't meet any other people on the way in. Only when we returned back to the bridge around noon, it was packed with people.

💦 The water levels change with the seasons. When we visited at the end of May, we could follow the river for about 2.5 km. After that it became too deep to walk through with our backpack. There are also some walks along the top of the canyon. We didn't do that, because it was way too warm for us.

🥾 The walk through the canyon has no elevation gain, but underfoot it's slippery and rocky. We walked in our sneakers and that was perfect. I (Sharon) also brought my hiking poles, which helped with stability, but also to check how deep the water was.

🤸‍♂️🤸‍♀️ We had a fantastic morning, playing around in this canyon. It was also a great way to keep cool during a hot day!

🇬🇷 Can you believe this is Greece?! 🇬🇷

We certainly didn't expect to find these kind of landscapes in Greece, but were so happy we did!

📍 Drakolimni (aka dragon lake) - just be aware there's a lot of lakes with this same name 😅 this specific hike starts in Mikro Papingo (a very cute village), and goes up via the Astraki mountain hut, to a beautiful lake with insane views all the way. 🐉 We also spotted some little dragons! Swipe if you don't believe us. 🤩

🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏼‍♀️ One way it's about 9 km, with a total elevation gain of 1400m. Some people do this hike in 2 days and stay at the hut. We left early, and met a few people who stayed at the hut, and just came back from the lake. We had the lake all to ourselves for hours, before the other hikers came in. Truly amazing!

☀️ The sun is relentless, and there's only shade at the beginning (and end) of the hike, when you walk through the woods. There are some shelters in between the forest and the hut to have a break in the shade. 🚰 Some of these shelters also have water, but don't rely on them, as we met some hikers who did, but there wasn't always water flowing.

This was definitely another hike for us to add to our endless 'most favorites' list.

🇸🇰 Last year we did some amazing hiking in the Tatras mountains of Slovakia. 🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏼‍♀️

One of them was the hike to Velicke pleso, a stunning lake with a beautiful backdrop. There are a lot of ways to get there, some are easier than others. The most popular route is via and asphalt route to Sliezsky Dom, but there are many other options.

🇧🇦 One of our most favorite via ferratas on this roadtrip so far!

📍 It's called Sokolov Put, located in Romanija, Bosnia & Herzegovina.

It's rated B/C, and is a great via ferrata with epic views. In terms of climbing it's a very varied via ferrata, with a bit of everything. That's exactly what made it the perfect experience!

🇭🇷 One of our most favorite stops in Croatia! 🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏼‍♀️ Kudin most na Krupi.

It's the oldest (over 200 years old) preserved crossing over the Krupa river. Over 100m long and up to 1.5m wide. It's situated in a lush canyon, surrounded by waterfalls. We had to stop for photos almost every step of the way. The colors are so crazy. From every angle the colors changed again and again. So when the sun was in a different angle on the way back, we had to take even more photos.

We parked at the top of the canyon, where we also spent the night, and paid €4 pp to walk down. Which is definitely worth it if you ask us. And we hate to pay for visiting sites in nature. 😅 The path is well laid out and it's fairly easy to walk down. 1.5km with an elevation difference of 200m. There's more walks that you can combine here too. Just take plenty of water, because it gets hot really fast.

Steindalsbreen - another beautiful glacier to hike to in Norway.

We loved the change of colors on this hike. From bright green to white and blue!

It's a moderate out and back hike of about 14 km with a total elevation gain of 600 meter.

Exploring Petrova Gora in Croatia. A place full of interesting history!

We didn't plan on going here, but they predicted very high winds at the coast. So inland we went, and we didn't regret it!

Photos 1-10
Monument to the Uprising of the People of Kordun and Banija. Dedicated to the deaths of ethnic-Serb peasants who died fighting against the Ustaše militia in the area around 1941 and 1942. After the start of the Yugoslav Wars in 1991, the neglect and degradation of the exterior of this site began almost immediately. What remains now is a hollow husk of a structure, being held up by a massive concrete skeleton. We were so amazed by this architecture.

Magarčevac underground military radio relay. Photo 11 shows a 3D image of the place and the radio tower. We entered through a little cabin in the woods and ended up exploring the tunnels, and a bunker, about 50m underground. Then we went up 8 floors and ended up in the house next to the radio tower.

WWII Partisan Hospital. Here they treated around 5,000 to 10,000 patients. It was abandoned after WWII, and restored in the 60's. Unfortunately it was abandoned again in the 90's after the war for independence.
